Every week, our AFL tipsters Jimmy and Mason, will share their tips for the round, with who they are backing, by how much, and what same game multi they are putting on.

GoBet provide AFL Tips and Predictions every week, which are written by a kiwi named Daryl Curnow. GoBet give one betting tip per AFL game, which is normally the line, but sometimes a head to head winner or the over/under for total points scored for the game.

So, are GoBets AFL Tips worth it?

Overall at the start of Round 9, GoBet have a return on investment of 103%. So if you backed all their bets with the same stake, you will have 3% profit. Which is decent enough, but nothing to write home about.

However, the expert advice they give along with their tips is pretty basic. Each game preview is only two sentences, and just says things like, "it was a strong win for the Cats over the Crows, and that should give them confidence".

With that amount of info, we don't trust their expertise that much, and as they pretty much only give line bets, it's pretty much a flip of a coin. And as they are generally just over the 50/50 mark, it's not much different to flipping a coin.

Before You Bet are another website that offer weekly AFL Tips and Predictions, and are mainly written by a bloke named Jake Smit. Before You Bet give very detailed AFL Tips for each game of the round, and like us they provide one overall tip (usually line or win), and one same game multi tip for each game.

Should I listen to Before You Bet's AFL Tips?

At the start of Round 8, Before You Bet have a return on investment of 86%. Which means if you listened to all their tips and placed the same size bet, you would be down 14%.

Before You Bet spend a lot more time than GoBet does in their match previews, but their same game multi tips rarely get up, which drops their average ROI.

Sporting News' AFL Tips and "Best Bets" are written by a guy named Kieran Francis. Kieran only gives 4 tips each round, which is only 1 bet in selected games, which vary from winning team, line betting to who will kick a goal.

Are Sporting News AFL Tips any good?

Not exactly. Considering they are selecting a finite amount of tips, and the ones they are promoting as their "Best Bets" - then they should be considering them to be a lock. However, more often than not they do not get up. They have provided much less tips than the other tipsters, and are falling well behind on their ROI.

Kruzeys' AFL Tips are written by a guy named Ben Harris. Ben gives a tip for each AFL game which is generally a high paying win, over/under or line bet, but also a combination of two (e.g. Geelong to win (1-39) and over 163.5 points). Ben does not give player bets or same game multis.

Are Kruzey's AFL Tips any good?

Kruzey has the second highest ROI as of round 8, second to us in the tipsters we have looked at. They're above 100%, so if you backed every bet, you would be in front. They're better than most, and do put a bit of time into their game previews. They're one of the few tipsters who should showcase their ROI.

Without being too self-righteous, but going by the ROI comparison above, our tips have been most successful this AFL season (as of Round 9). So us.

Kruzey is a close second, but they do just do basic 50/50 type bets, so you'd assume with a bit of AFL knowledge you should slightly get the odds above 50/50, which they have.

When we are providing our AFL tips - they're actually the bets we put on every single week (some of anyway, we do plenty more). That doesn't mean you should follow us blindly, although we'd be flattered. It's best to know how to bet properly yourself. If you are here, you probably have your own idea on who will win each week. Caleb Serong is our current tip for the 2024 Brownlow Medal.

Serong started the year like a house on fire, and has been smashing out the contested possessions last year, which we've noted as the number one stat when it comes to players winning the Brownlow Medal. He doesn't have many players to steal votes from him at Fremantle, and if they continue to win games, he will be dangerous in the votes.

Carlton is our current tip to win the 2024 AFL Premiership.

The Blues have been getting closer to the finish line every year this decade. They've got some of the best talent in the AFL at all ends of the ground, and have been awarded the easiest fixture of the year for 2024. My conspiracy theory is the AFL is looking after them with an easy fixture and many primetime games, as they did Collingwood last year. Nonetheless, the Blues have been playing well and are good to watch.

Sam Darcy is our current tip to be the next AFL Rising Star.

Sam has had an injury prone first few years of his career, however, he was a number two draft which top 5 rising stars picks have historically won often, and he has had time to have some experience and get the body right. He got the nom in Round 4 and is looking strong, however Harley Reid has turned a new leaf as of Round 5 and will be hard to beat.

Best odds for Sam Darcy are 13.00 at betm.com.au

Jesse Hogan is our current tip to be the 2024 Coleman Medal.

We started on the Larkey bandwagon due to his goal kicking accuracy, but have changed to Hogan for the exact same reason. GWS are on fire and Hogan has been the main man in the goal square, not Greene. It's looking like a two horse race at this stage between Hogan and Curnow, but we're backing Jesse for now.
