Review Neds:

Neds

Best Racing Bookie in Australia

Neds Overview

Neds only launched in 2017 but it has quickly become one of Australia's most recognisable bookies. We reckon that Neds is Australia's best horse racing betting site because they offer punters a huge variety of markets, features, race day statistics and price information, and, of course, great odds. We also like that Ned's support team is available 24/7, that their app for Apple and Android phones is fast and packed with features, and that they accept PayPal and many other instant deposit methods.

Neds Review

Neds was launched in 2017 by former Ladbrokes Australia CEO Dean Shannon - a veteran of the Australian betting industry. The experience bought by Shannon soon became clear as Neds quickly became of Australia's most popular betting sites - especially for racing.

With full-form guides, track information, same race multis, a money tracker feature, fluctuation statistics, live streaming, and a variety of other racing features, it's definitely hard to look past Neds for a flutter on the races.

While the racing focus at Neds is clear, there are also plenty of sports to bet on including Aussie favourites like cricket, AFL, NRL, and union and plenty of others like motorsports, novelties, and even bull riding. With an informative blog, a great range of instant payment methods, and one of the best-looking betting sites in Australia, Neds is one of the best betting sites for all Aussie punters.

Why we like Neds ✅

  • Neds markets for all Australian races, many international races, and 30+ different sports
  • Neds offers popular features like same race, blended and split multis, and cash out
  • Neds' payments are fast and their site is very easy to use and navigate around

Why we don't like Neds ❌

  • The live betting interface on Neds could do with an upgrade
  • Neds has very similar odds and markets to Ladbrokes (because they are owned by the same company)

Neds Rating: 10/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Everything you need to know about Neds
Mason Kelliher

Mason Kelliher

First thing's first, Neds is an awesome betting site that is great for both casual and more serious Aussie punters.

For one thing, the Neds site looks great with simple graphics and a no-nonsense but engaging design. It also loads quickly and is 100% secure thanks to cloud hosting from Amazon Web Services. The Neds team is available 24/7 by phone or via the contact form on their website.

The Neds betting site is packed with features including live streaming of some horse and greyhound racing events, a blog for sports and racing predictions, in-depth racing and price statistics for most meets, instant deposit methods, the Neds Toolbox, in-play sports betting, how-to videos, a variety of different multi betting types, cash out, any team vs any team options, and much more.

Neds is also great for racing because their prices are competitive, their range of markets is comprehensive and they have additional features like jockey challenges, featured races, and a filter feature that helps you to find horses that match the criteria that you select.

Overall, you're going to find almost everything you would want to bet on at Neds, whether that's markets for cricket, footy, soccer, rugby, or any other major sport or surfing, snooker, or harness races in Chile.

Our biggest issues with the site are the lack of play-by-play graphics and statistics for live events and the fact that their markets and odds are so similar to Ladbrokes'.

This review is packed with information and you can learn heaps more about Neds online below. Be sure to use the links in the next section to help you navigate throughout the page, otherwise, you can visit Neds by clicking the green button below!

Neds Online FAQ

What is Neds betting?

'Neds' is an Australian betting site that was launched in 2017 and has since become one of the most popular online bookmakers in the country. Neds is particularly strong when it comes to horse and greyhound racing with lots of features, live-streamed events and statistics. Australians can bet at Neds using their online betting website or on their free mobile betting app which can be downloaded for both Android and Apple devices.

Why is Neds a good betting site?

Neds is a good betting site for a number of reasons including that:

  • Neds has 24/7 customer support
How do you download the Neds betting app?

The Neds iOS app is free to download from the App Store and the neds Android app is free to download from the Google Play Store.

We recommend signing up and creating your Neds account online before you get the betting app because the sign up and verification processes are much easier online.

  2. Create your account and scroll to the bottom of the site

Is there a Neds sign-up bonus?

We cannot tell you if there is a Neds sign-up bonus.

That's because advertising betting site bonuses to customers before they have created a betting account is illegal in Australia. This does not mean that bonuses are illegal, only that you must already have a betting site account to be offered a betting bonus.

Who owns Neds Australia?

Neds Australia is owned by Entain plc. GVC Holdings acquired Neds at the end of November 2018, just a year after they launched in Australia. Gvc has since rebranded as Entain plc.

Entain is a multinational iGaming company active in more than 20 countries. They operate betting sites and online casinos including bwin, Coral, Crystalbet, Eurobet, Ladbrokes, Betstar, and Bookmaker.com.au.

Is Neds racing good?

Yes! We think that Neds' racing offerings are the best in Australia. We say this because they offer a wide range of competitively priced horse and greyhound races from across Australia and the world.

Neds has live streaming, tons of statistics, full form guides, same race, blended and split multis, and other top racing features like speedmaps, a money tracker, and price fluctuations.

Neds also has Best Tote + SP and Best of the Best odds for many big Australian races.

The Neds blog is also a great place for racing tips and their Filter Form lets you find the runners that are perfect for your betting strategies.

What is the Neds toolbox?

The Neds toolbox is a feature of Neds' betting site. The Neds toolbox contains things we are legally not allowed to discuss on this website but it is available for all Neds users.

How does Neds compare to other betting sites?
Mason Kelliher

Mason Kelliher

"Neds is a popular betting site that excels for racing but is also great for sports betting. In terms of how it stacks up against other betting sites, Sportsbet, PlayUp, Bet365, and Unibet may sometimes (but not often) have better sports and racing odds as well as more betting options (particularly in-play bets) but this all depends on the bet you want to place.

These bookies also have similarly good betting apps although we prefer the range of features offered by the Sportsbet app and the simplicity of the PlayUp app. Bet365 and Unibet also have a couple more payment options that Neds doesn't. In terms of live streaming, Neds' options are a bit limited so Sportsbet is a better choice for racing while Bet365 and Unibet are better for sports.

If you're looking for a great racing bookmaker also consider PlayUp which has Australia's highest fixed odds."

If you're looking to start betting with Neds then we've detailed everything that you need to know below. We'll take you through how to sign up with Neds, the Neds verification process, depositing and withdrawing from Neds and, of course, placing a Neds bet.

We think that Neds is one of the easiest bookmakers in Australia to use which is especially impressive considering they are also one of the newest Australian betting sites.

There's 3 small windows like this that you need to complete when signing up with Neds online

2. Neds Verification

Like most Australian betting sites, Neds will automatically try to verify your account. Betting site verification is required by the Australian government to ensure all punters are over 18 and are Australian residents that are allowed to bet.

If automatic verification is unsuccessful (don't worry it happens all the time!) then you'll need to verify your Neds account electronically or manually.

How to verify your Neds online account

When automatic verification fails you'll need to verify your Neds account electronically or manually.

For electronic Neds verification:

  1. Head to 'My Account' on Neds
  2. Click the orange 'Verify Account' button
  3. Select 'Verify Now'
  4. Match your account details against 2-4 different ID sources
  5. Select 'Add New Card' to verify your Debit or Credit Card

For manual Neds verification (international players or if electronic verification fails):

  1. Email support@neds.com.au
  2. Attach a photo or copy of one primary and one secondary ID document
  3. Primary documents include Passport, Drivers Licence, Proof of Age Card / Key Pass, National Identity Card
  4. Secondary Documents include Bank Statement, Utility Bill, Property Rates Notice, Medicare Card etc.
  5. All documents must match your address and be valid within 3 months

Note that you have 14 days to verify your identity before your account will be suspended. If your account gets suspended then you will still be able to access everything, you will just be restricted from placing bets. Account verification also needs to completed before you can withdraw any winnings from Neds.

3. Neds Payment Methods

Funding your account is very easy at Neds but withdrawing is a little more difficult than it needs to be. That's because Neds offers heaps of deposit methods including Apple Pay and PayPal but you can only withdraw via Bank Transfer or your Neds Card. Withdrawal times are also slightly longer on Neds than on other bookies.

4. What you'll see on Neds Australia

When you're on the Neds homepage it's easy to see the racing focus. At the top of the page are the horse and greyhound events that are 'Next to Go'. Below this, you'll see some more detailed racing information, including the odds for the favourites in the next races to jump.

To enter a specific sports or racing market or to find more detailed information about the event that you want to bet on you can use the search bar at the top of the site or use the menu on the right-hand side of the screen.

When you're in a racing market, the top of the page has the most important general information including race comments, distance, weather and track conditions as well as a countdown timer. Below this, you'll find the race field. Depending on the race, you'll also be able to view a Money Tracker, Price Fluctuations, the Form Guide and a Speedmap. You can also view more comments for each runner by selecting their names.

In terms of betting, you can select the SP, the Fixed Odds offered by Neds or the Mid Totes for wins and places. You can also create a Multi, Trifecta, Quinella, First Four, Exacta, Quaddie or select Money Back odds for if your runner places.

When you select a sports market, you'll see a much less complicated screen, largely because of Ned's focus on racing betting. For each sport, your options and available markets will depend on the sport that you choose. The Win/Loss odds will be displayed at the top of the screen but you'll also have the option to create a Same Game Multi or a 6 Pack for many sports.

  3. Find the type of bet that you want to place
  4. Select your odds

Neds Australia Betslip Racing

When you select the odds you want your Neds Betslip will appear.

Neds Betting Example

Let's say that you want to bet on the greyhound races at Angle Park in SA.

After finding the meet using the search bar or the Neds menu you see that the next race to jump is Race 11.

After reading some of the runner comments, studying the full form guide, and understanding how the track suits different runners you decide to back the favourite #1 Marlee Jaye.

You can also see from the Neds fluctuations graphs that their current fixed price is slightly higher than their opening price.

To place a bet you select the fixed odds win price of 1.50 (you choose fixed-odds because you think the starting price (SP) might drop again).

You enter your bet stake of $10 and click 'Place bet'.

If Marlee Jaye wins the race you stand to win $15.00 for a tidy profit of $5.00.

Neds App

The Neds app has 4.7/5 stars on the App Store which is pretty impressive given that it has 2.8 thousand reviews. Here at My Betting Sites, we rate the Neds app particularly highly for racing betting because of the detailed statistics and commentaries available and because you can make quick payments via your mobile.

Neds App Australia

The Neds app is great for racing and sports betting with high odds and heaps of features/betting options

The Neds app is free for Apple and Android devices and we prefer it to the Neds mobile site because it is more intuitive, faster, and easier to use.

How to download the Neds Android App

  1. Head to the Google Play Store OR visit the Neds betting site from your Android device
  2. Find the 'Get it on Google Play' button at the bottom of the homepage

Neds App Review ⚖️

Neds is already one of the easiest bettings sites to use in Australia and this user-friendliness is also evident in their app. The Neds Apple and Android apps have simple, quick navigation that can mainly be done through the menu or search function. The Neds app has everything that the betting site has including access to thousands of markets every day and the Neds toolbox for racing.

You can make deposits with PayPal, Pay ID, and Apple Pay through the Neds app, read exclusive match commentaries from experts and access plenty of form and statistics for racing markets. Overall, Neds' orange and white colour scheme makes it easy to see odds and navigate the menu and this menu is well-designed so that almost any market can be accessed within two taps.

The Neds app is not perfect and we would like to see more live-streamed sports and play-by-play graphics for in-play events.

Neds Racing

When we said that Neds was a great betting site for racing we weren't kidding. There are so many features on Neds when it comes to racing that it would be hard to list them all. We've given a brief overview of each Neds racing feature below but if you're interested in having a flutter we recommend visiting Neds for yourself.

Neds same race multis

One of Neds' most popular features is their Same Race Multi builder which punters can use across all three codes

📋 Neds Racing Overview

At the top of each racing meet, you'll get an in-depth preview about each race as well as track conditions, the current weather, the distance and a countdown timer showing how long it is until the start of the race. The depth and care of the information that you get for each race depends on how high profile the race and where it is located. Australian and New Zealand races often have the best race day information while more obscure international events aren't as in-depth.

🏇 Neds Race Field

In the Race Field section of Neds racing markets, you'll be able to see the form for each runner as well as runner comments (jockey, trainer, Sire, Dam, Type, Age, Form, Flucs etc.) by clicking on the name of the runner you are interested in. Next to each runner, you'll see the flucs (price changes) since the market opened. Next to that are the odds for fixed wins and places as well as the starting price (SP) and mid totes for wins and places (if it's an Australian race).

🔨 Neds Toolbox

Unfortunately, due to Australian betting legislation, the Neds cannot be explained on this website but you'll have full access to it after signing up with Neds.

💵 Neds Money Tracker

With the Neds money tracker you can see the number of bets placed on each runner as well as the total $ value for bets placed on each runner to see how other punters are betting. This is particularly informative because you can see which horse is popular in terms of both numbers of bets and value of bets.

📈 Neds Fluctuations

You can filter Neds fluctuations to see price graphs or $ values as the odds for each runner change over time. As a runner's odds become shorter (more of a favourite) the odds will be coloured green. As the become longer (less of a favourite) the odds will be coloured red. Odds change as bets are placed on each runner so when you see a price decrease you know a runner is being favoured by more punters. The opposite is true for price increases.

📊 Neds Full Form Guide

You can access full form guides for all races on Neds by clicking on the 'Full Form Guide' link. Full form guides show detailed race info for at least the last five races.

🚀 Neds Speedmap

You can see how runners best times compare with the interactive Neds speedmap.

Mid Tote - The middle win or place tote price from the 3 major Australian TAB's

Same Race Multi - Combine win, top 2, top 3 and top 4 odds to create your own multi

Money Back Odds - Take reduced win odds but get your bet stake refunded if your runner places 2nd, 3rd or 4th

🥇 Neds Suggested Runners

Neds will suggest runners based on expert tips for trifectas and other bets.

Neds Betting

Neds may have a racing focus but this doesn't take away from the fact that they still have consistently high odds for all top Australian and international sports events.

Because the Australian betting industry is so competitive, other bookies may sometimes have better sports odds than Neds however this is usually only a difference of a few cents and if you consider the range of features that Neds offers they might still be the best betting site for you.

Neds Sports Betting Features

Below are some of the features and things that Neds offers which make their sports betting experience unique and worth a look in. As always, we recommend visiting Neds to get the best understanding of what they offer.

Neds Card

If you're sick of waiting for your Neds withdrawals to process then the Neds card is the way to go

💳 Neds Card

After verifying your Neds account you can get a free Neds Master Card. Money can be transferred into and from your Neds betting account to your Neds Card which means that you can get your winnings on your card in a matter of seconds. The Neds card can then be used as a normal Master Card (online, at ATMs or in stores) and it even has PayWave functionality.

📰 Neds Blog

Updated with new tips every day, the Neds blog is a great place to see what the experts are predicting for upcoming sports fixtures so you can make educated bets. The Neds blog also has plenty of news articles which should help you to stay up to date with the latest Australian and world sports happenings.

🕘 Neds Live Betting

Like all betting sites in Australia, Neds cannot offer live online betting. They can however accept live bets that are placed over the phone. To bet live on Neds simply call 134 777. The In-Play section of the Neds website will show you all of the available live markets and the odds will constantly be changing as the games are being played.

📊 Neds Multis

Neds has a few different Multis that are ideal for punters who want to bet with a higher-risk higher-reward strategy.

Classic Multi - Combine odds from different games or events into a Multi bet to receive higher payouts. Multis can be made by adding selections to your bet slip. When you have a couple of selections go to the Multi tab in your bet slip to create the Multi you want.

Same Race Multis - When you're looking at the Race Field for a selected racing market you can build a Same Race Multi by changing from the Win/Place tab to the Same Race Multi tab. With a Same Race Multi you can pick up to 4 runners to win/place.

Same Game Multis - When you're looking at the markets for a given event you'll see a Same Game Multi tab. Here you can combine odds within the same game to create your own Multi bet.

Blended Multis - When you're making a Multi, you can select multiple winners from the same race, or multiple selections from the same game, to give yourself even more chances of winning. You'll get a special fixed odds price for this leg.

Split Multis - Like a blended Multi, you can select multiple winners or outcomes for a leg. This time you keep the original odds but instead you pay extra for your multi.

📲 Neds Alexa Skill

If you have an Amazon Alexa device you can get racing information straight from Neds just by using your voice. You can either ask Alexa to "enable Neds" or go into the Alexa app and enable 'Racing Events by Neds' yourself.

Once enabled, all you have to do ask is ask Alexa what you want to know, for example, "Alexa, ask Neds - what's the next race?" and "Who is the favourite?"

🔢 Neds Asian Handicap Betting

Asian Handicap betting is a popular bet type for soccer betting. Not all betting sites in Australia offer Asian handicap markets so we're happy to see that Neds does.

Asian handicap is designed to even out the soccer game by applying a handicap to the score before the game starts. To win an Asian handicap bet the team that you back will need to be ahead at the end of the game after the handicap has been applied. If the game ends in a draw after the handicap has been applied then you will get your bet stake back.

6⃣ Neds 6 Pack

Popular sports like cricket, soccer, AFL and NRL have 6 pack betting options on Neds. If available, there will be a '6 pack' tab that you can select when choosing the market that you want to bet on. If any of the players in your six-pack win then so do you.

Neds Promotions

After being contacted by a lawyer representing Neds we can no longer discuss their promotions online due to Australian betting legislation that affects advertising inducements.

Neds promotions australia

You can only view Neds bonuses and promos if you are logged into your Neds account

Neds Bonuses

Neds is not allowed to advertise any of their bonuses to players who are not yet customers. This is because Australia's strict betting laws prohibit the advertisement of sign up bonuses and incentives to any players who do not have betting accounts.

Neds can still give existing players bonuses and other promotions

To see what Neds bonuses and offers you are eligible for, we recommend creating a free Neds account and then checking the 'Promotions' tab.

How to get the Neds sign-up bonus

There is no Neds 'sign-up bonus' because Australian betting law prohibits this kind of offer. You will have to be logged into your Neds account to view any Neds promotions.

  2. Deposit funds into your account
