BoomBet Review

Modern, Fast & Great Fixed Odds

BoomBet Overview

Mason Kelliher
Mason Kelliher - Editor-in-Chief

Rebranded from Sportsbetting.com.au in 2021 after a lawsuit from the corporate fat cats at Sportsbet - BoomBet is a contemporary Aussie bookie specialising in high racing fixed odds and a simple, easy-to-use platform. Like a few of our other favourite small betting sites, BoomBet doesn't offer every feature, payment option, and sports market but they do have great support, intuitive apps, and popular racing products like Best of the Best and Top Fluc odds.

So should you sign up with BoomBet?

Yes, if you bet on the races or the most popular sports markets you should take advantage of BoomBet's modern app & competitive prices. However, if you're into features like live betting or same game/race multis then this is not the bookie for you.

BoomBet Review

Bringing over two decades of experience from the sportsbetting.com.au brand, BoomBet's re-launch in 2021 brought a much-needed modern touch to one of Australia's longest-running online betting sites.

Today you can expect most withdrawals in your account the next day, a bug-free app and website experience, as well as social media, email, and phone support.

When it comes to local and international racing BoomBet almost always has the best fixed odds for a couple of runners and they offer all the best racing products like Best Tote + SP, Top Fluc, and Best of the Best odds.

BoomBet offers basic but well-priced markets for all the biggest sports events including the AFL, NRL, EPL, NBA, NHL, and most other semi-popular sports including things like cricket, golf, NFL, and boxing (depending on what's on).

On the flip side of this, BoomBet's support is only available between 8:00am to 10:30pm Australian Eastern, BoomBet does not offer live betting (phone or online), they are missing a range of less-popular markets for big sports and some smaller sports entirely, and they have no streaming, same game/race multis, or most of the other features you'll get from the likes of Ladbrokes, Bet365 and Sportsbet.

So all in all, this is a bookie for the purists, those punters out there that want a painless betting experience with quality odds and dedicated Australian customer support.

Why we like BoomBet ✅

  • BoomBet has Best Tote, SP, Top Fluc & BoB odds as well as market-leading fixed odds
  • BoomBet's local customer support is friendly, helpful, and even available via social media
  • Given their 2021 re-launch, BoomBet's app, site, and payment processes are fast & painless

Why we don't like BoomBet ❌

  • BoomBet doesn't accept live bets (online or via phone)
  • BoomBet can be later than some bookies at adding markets for both racing and sports
How big is BoomBet's boom?

BoomBet's stripped-back offering has its advantages and disadvantages.

On the positive side, the focus on providing valuable markets is clear with consistently competitive fixed odds and lines.

When you couple this with the modern app, lovely pink colour scheme, fast withdrawals, and quality support, things are looking good.

Adding and editing bets in the BoomBet betslip is easy, and with fewer options than most online bookmakers, finding your bets is also simple.

BoomBet also has a Protest Payout, full racing results, a variety of tips, speedmaps, price fluctuation graphs, and form guides.

There are, however, some important things to take note of.

BoomBet has a $2,000 limit on Best Tote + SP odds and a $500 limit on Best of the Best odds - which is a bit disappointing but shouldn't be a problem for most players.

Boombet's international racing offering is weaker than most of our top bookies with some markets and runner info missing entirely.

Finding FAQ or How-To guides is also a struggle (it seems that they don't even have them).

When you consider the limited support hours, lack of extra features, fewer payment options, and delay to add markets, it's clear that BoomBet is not an everyman's bookie - it's made for primarily racing punters who know what they're doing and want to jump on quality odds without getting bogged down in extras, features, and general noise.

So, BoomBet brings the boom but only for the punters who come for the prices and simplicty.

There are more reasons than those mentioned above to sign up with BoomBet Australia

Boom Bet Australia FAQ

Should you sign up with BoomBet Australia?

Yes, BoomBet often has the best odds for certain horses and sports outcomes, they have a very helpful customer support team, and they offer a modern, fast, and intuitive betting app.

Be aware that BoomBet doesn't offer the same breadth of markets as big betting sites like Bet365 and Sportsbet, they also don't accept live phone bets, and they don't have some popular features like a same game multi builder.

It's for these reasons that our experts recommend BoomBet for more experienced punters or for serious players who don't want some of the more gimmicky features of other online bookmakers.

Is there a BoomBet sign up bonus?

Unfortunately, we cannot legally display any BoomBet promotions or bonuses online - therefore we cannot tell you if BoomBet has a sign up bonus.

Players logged into their BoomBet accounts will be able to view their BoomBet promotions.

How do you download the BoomBet app?

The BoomBet app can be downloaded from the App Store for iOS devices or from the Google Play Store for Android devices.

It is free and smaller than many other Australian betting apps which means that it won't take up too much of your phone's storage.

We recommend signing up with BoomBet before you download the app because the sign up process is much more straightforward online.

How do you deposit & withdraw from BoomBet?

BoomBet accepts Debit Card, POLi, BPAY, Credit Card, and Bank Transfer deposits. You can then use Credit Card and Bank Transfer for withdrawals from BoomBet.

Does BoomBet have good racing odds?

Yes! BoomBet offers either Best Tote, Best Tote + SP, or Best of the Best odds for all Australian gallops as well as fixed win and place odds. These fixed odds prices are often the best in Australia for at least a couple of runners.

What are some alternative betting sites to BoomBet?

If you're looking for another small Australian-owned betting site then PlayUp is a great choice. PlayUp also offers great fixed odds prices but has a few more markets for sports events as well as same game multis.

WinnersBet is another small Australian bookmaker specializing in horse racing and they offer Best Tote odds for all Australian thoroughbred races.

If you want another modern and fast sports betting site then Neds is a bigger corporate bookmaker that launched in 2017 with a huge variety of betting options, quality odds, and plenty of extra features like cash out, same game/race multis, tips, previews, speedmaps, and more.

BoomBet App

To avoid repeating ourselves too much, let's take it for granted that BoomBet's app and website are fundamentally the same - payments are just as fast, all the options and odds are identical and you still won't get features like same game multis.

In saying that, the BoomBet app is also a bit different in that the navigation gets a facelift, and because fewer things are on the screen at any one point in time, using the BoomBet app is simple, satisfying, and fast.

Form guides, price flucs, and extra markets can be opened with one tap, as can payments and account info.

While some of the menu buttons are a little small for fat-fingered folks like myself, I prefer the BoomBet mobile app to the website for its speed and simplicity.

You can download the BoomBet app from the App Store or Google Play Store and at 127 MB in size, it shouldn't slow down your device at all - no matter how old it is.

BoomBet App Pros ✅

  • Free for Android and iOS
  • Australian-owned
  • Stripped back & simple
  • Fast navigation & payments
  • 18+ sports & 3 racing codes
  • Quality odds & markets
  • Best Tote, SP, TF & BoB odds
  • File size is not too large
  • Doesn't require the latest operating system

BoomBet App Cons ❌

  • Hard to find live chat
  • No FAQ/How-To
  • Signing up is easier online
  • Missing features like SGM
  • Some buttons are a little small
Boom Bet Australia App

Downloading the BoomBet App

How to download the BoomBet app

The BoomBet app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and App Store for Android and iOS devices respectively.

It's worth mentioning that the sign up process is much easier on the BoomBet Australia website and therefore we recommend creating your BoomBet account before getting the app.

  1. Visit BoomBet
  2. Create a BoomBet account
  3. Go to the Play Store on your device
  4. Search for 'BoomBet'
  5. Select 'Install'
  6. Sign in to your account and start betting!

How to download the BoomBet iOS App

  5. Select 'Get'

BoomBet Betting

We've said it before but we'll say it again - when it comes to betting BoomBet consistently has competitive odds.

This means that a couple of horses in each field will have the best fixed odds prices at BoomBet. Often, BoomBet will also have the best price (or thereabouts) for one side of a sports line. Find out more below.

Boombet Racing

As with all the best racing-focused bookies in Australia, BoomBet offers odds across all three racing codes for all Australian and New Zealand meets.

For thoroughbreds, all markets will have fixed odds prices as well as either Best Tote, Best Tote + SP, or Best of the Best odds. The bigger the race, the more likely it is to have BoB odds and also Top Fluc options - which means more value for you as a punter.

Along with quality prices, BoomBet has price fluctuation information, full form guides, speedmaps, runner comments, and multiple different tips options for all Australian and New Zealand gallop races.

Notable racing features that are missing from BoomBet include exotics (until the day of the race), same race multis, and live streaming.

You can toggle runner form, price fluctuations and speedmaps on or off as you want when viewing any BoomBet horse racing market

Do note that BoomBet does have a $2,000 limit on Best Tote + SP odds and a $500 limit on Best of the Best odds - which isn't great for big-time players but also shouldn't be a problem for most punters.

For harness racing and greyhounds, Middle Tote win odds and VIC Tote place odds are commonplace but you'll also get fixed odds and sometimes Best Tote odds if you're betting closer to the jump or on a bigger race.

BoomBet also covers all major international thoroughbred and harness races from around the world including the USA, Japan, South Africa, France, UK, UAE, Sweden, and more - generally, these have fixed odds options but if not you'll be able to pick up Mid Tote prices.

BoomBet also offers racing results and racing futures which are generally kept to the biggest Australian, New Zealand, and UK thoroughbred meets.

BoomBet Sports

If you're looking to bet on the biggest Australian and international sports then BoomBet will certainly serve you well.

BoomBet offers 100-200 markets for leagues like the AFL, NRL, EPL, NBA, NHL, and NFL. You'll find $1.90 lines most of the time but they can jump slightly above or below this depending on how much action a certain bet gets.

Otherwise, Boombet's pre-match sporting odds are competitive for all major markets like Head-to-Heads, Lines, Over/Unders, Margins, Points, First Scorer, Half Time, and Margin bets - but we still recommend shopping between BoomBet and some of our other favourite sports betting sites to ensure you get the best price for your bets.

BoomBet doesn't have many futures markets or player props for sports which is a bit of a letdown. BoomBet also displays Same Game Multi options for certain matches but these are pre-selected so you can't build your own Same Game Multis.

BoomBet's Same Game Multis are pre-selected which means that you can't build your own sports bets from the same game with BoomBet Australia

Do be aware that BoomBet adds more markets for most sports the morning of the event so if you want a particular bet type then you may have to be patient.

BoomBet does have odds for nearly 20 sports in total including everything from snooker and darts to golf and netball. Generally, these markets are priced in line with other bookies but if you do your research it's possible to find value bets.

BoomBet currently doesn't offer esports or novelty (political, entertainment etc.) betting options.

BoomBet Features

BoomBet Australia doesn't have much in the way of betting features - instead of offering the lower-value gimmicky extras they're more concerned with providing a simple betting experience focused on quality odds and options.

BoomBet Betting Features

BoomBet Same Game Multis

Even though NRL and AFL markets have a 'Same Game Multi' tab, BoomBet doesn't really offer Same Game Multis - they simply have some pre-selected multi options that you can bet on.

This is a nice extra but we would prefer the ability to actually create our own Same Game Multis on BoomBet.

BoomBet Live Betting

Online live betting is illegal in Australia but most bookies still offer live phone betting but not BoomBet Australia - they have no live betting options.

BoomBet Cash Out

BoomBet doesn't display which markets it offers cash out for but last time we bet with them we could cash out of bets on bigger sporting events like the AFL and NRL.

BoomBet Racing Tips

For all local and some international racing markets BoomBet has partnered with Racing and Sports to provide race comments and tips for the first four runners.

BoomBet Flucs, Form & Speedmaps

BoomBet gives you the ability to see price fluctuations, full form guides, and speedmaps for all local and some international racing meets.

BoomBet Payment Methods

BoomBet is one of the most limited betting websites in Australia when it comes to payment options. Sites like Bet365 offer 14 different ways to deposit and withdraw whereas BoomBet's payment options are limited to just four methods - Debit/Credit Card, POLi, BPAY, and Bank Transfer.

Notable payment options you can't use on Boombet Australia include PayPal, Apple Pay, Pay ID, and cash.

BoomBet's payments are, however, faster than most with all of my withdrawals entering my bank account by the next day (although BoomBet does say it can take up to 2 business days for the average customer).

BoomBet Deposits

  • Visa Card (instant)
  • Mastercard (instant)

BoomBet's minimum deposit amount is $10. BoomBet's minimum bet amount is $1.00.

BoomBet Withdrawals

Boom Bet Australia betting partners and licence information

BoomBet is an official wagering partner of the AFL, NRL, Cricket Australia, Football Federation Australia and Tennis Australia. BoomBet is licensed by the NT Racing Commission.

BoomBet Contact

BoomBet's customer support team can only be contacted between the hours of 8:00am - 10:30pm Australian Eastern Time which isn't ideal for punters staying up to watch international events but should be just for fine for most players.

With live chat, phone, email, and social media support, you'll also get to pick your BoomBet contact method of choice.

All the BoomBet customer service staff we've chatted to have been attentive and friendly and given that the BoomBet team is small, most of them have a great knowledge of all aspects of Boombet's site and services so are very helpful.

Using boombet betting agency on desktop computer

BoomBet is a modern betting agency that is fast and pretty easy to navigate - although this would be easier if there was a search option

Overall, it's a simple and modern site with a soft design. Given that they launched in 2021, BoomBet is fast and we have not had any issues with broken links, bugs, or slow load times.

Whether you have used another Australian betting site before, or BoomBet is your first, you should have no issues finding the bets you want to place - although the option to search for a market would be appreciated.
