Why are there higher rated apps on the App Store that you don't recommend?
Fair point. Many new apps don't have that many reviews, so you can't really justify the sample size when there are only 20 reviewers giving 5 stars. This is particularly an issue with some new brands, who actually offer their users bonus cash to leave them a 5 star review on the App Store or Google Play Store.
We know this, because we receive these emails asking us to do this. The most accurate high rating apps would need at least 1k reviewers.
Why do you recommend apps that have a low rating on the App Store?
Another fair point. This can also be due to not many people reviewing a betting app (a small or newer app in particular), and the ones that are, are disgruntled users who have had a bad experience. Not to undermine these people and their experiences, but these apps are generally not the ones that offer people bonus cash to leave a positive review. Therefore, we weight them accordingly to compensate for the few unhinged people, and or possible competitors sabotaging them.
Another reason for this is because sometimes a review is not a true representation of the brand.
Take betr for example. They have very bad reviews from shortly after they launched. Betr offered outrageous promotions, had many winning customers, and had an incredibly overwhelmed staff which took people up to a week to receive their withdrawals.
Instead of punters being happy with the absurd promotions, many took to the App Store to voice their frustrations, leaving aggressive reviews, which still impact their rating today. Even though they would all be paid out eventually and have a decent fill up, which they would not receive from any other brand in the history of Australian betting.
What does Software have to do with anything?
For the everyday punter, it doesn't affect you at all. There are not many betting software providers in Australia, and most use one of the four most popular software providers. It just means that the websites and apps will look very similar to each other, and have similar features and odds.
However. Some users, particularly bonus hunters (people who open new betting accounts with every bookmaker to abuse potential bonuses) believe that some of these software providers share data, and that the system will be aware if you open a betting account at a sister app, and you may be restricted in promotions or bets.
What is Amused?
Amused Australia Pty Ltd is a company that trades as several different betting apps (BetNation, BetDeluxe, Surge, Noisy, PulseBet and BigBet).
While the software providers sharing data is generally an opinion, in the case of Amused (and other companies that own several betting apps) - in the privacy policy that you accept when opening an account with any Amused brand, you are entering an agreement with Amused to collect your data, not the individual brand. Therefore, all brands would likely have access to your data and betting behaviour.
