Many betting sites offer different AFL promos to be more competitive. Here are some of the common ones:

Same Game Multi Insurance
There are many different names for this, but they all essentially work the same way.
How it works: If you place a 3 leg same game multi and if 1 leg fails, you may get your money back as bonus cash. Bookmakers that offer this, will have requirements on minimum legs placed, maximum stake amount and minimum odds requirement.
Early Payout
Different bookies may have different rules for this, but a common example is if your team is leading by 12+ points at half time, they will pay you out as a winner. Even if your team loses!
Boosts

ROI means return on investment. While the purpose of betting is primarily for entertainment, it is nice to know if you are winning or losing, and some tipsters like to showcase their ROI to indicate whether their tips are worthy overall.

How much is a 393% ROI?

393% is your initial stake times by 3.93.

So if you invested $100 evenly on all of Jimmy's tips in Opening Round (8 bets with a stake of $12.50 each) - with an ROI of 393%, you would now have $393, and a profit of $293.

We have one of the best ROI's for AFL Tips in the country. Actually, after investigating some of the most popular self-appointed expert AFL Tipsters - so far we haven't found anyone who's ROI is better.

We've been asked for our AFL, racing and sporting tips for years, but have always been hesitant to give them out. It's a big responsibility, as you don't know how much people reading are trusting your word. I've never had much time for "expert tipsters", as most of the time I think they are full of it.

What irks me, is when "expert tipsters" do not show their ROI. So we decided to have a look at some popular AFL tips websites, GoBet, Before You Bet, Sporting News and Kruzey, to see whether their tips are actually worth following:

GoBet AFL Tips

GoBet provide AFL Tips and Predictions every week, which are written by a kiwi named Daryl Curnow. GoBet give one betting tip per AFL game, which is normally the line, but sometimes a head to head winner or the over/under for total points scored for the game.

So, are GoBets AFL Tips worth it?

Overall at the start of Round 20, GoBet have a return on investment of 89%. So if you backed all their bets with the same stake, you would have a loss of 11%.

The expert advice they give along with their tips is pretty basic. Each game preview is only two sentences, and just says things like, "it was a strong win for the Cats over the Crows, and that should give them confidence".

With that amount of info, we don't trust their expertise that much, and as they pretty much only give line bets, it's pretty much a flip of a coin. And as they line odds are 95% which is pretty much what their ROI is, maybe they do flip a coin.

Before You Bet AFL Tips

Before You Bet are another website that offer weekly AFL Tips and Predictions, and are mainly written by a bloke named Jake Smit. Before You Bet give very detailed AFL Tips for each game of the round, and like us they provide one overall tip (usually line or win), and one same game multi tip for each game.

Should I listen to Before You Bet's AFL Tips?

At the start of Round 20, Before You Bet have a return on investment of 81%. Which means if you listened to all their tips and placed the same size bet, you would be down 19%.

Before You Bet spend a lot more time than GoBet does in their match previews, but their same game multi tips rarely get up, which drops their average ROI. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, their same game multis often miss by 1, so if you have SGM insurance the ROI won't be that heavy.

Sporting News AFL Tips

Sporting News' AFL Tips and "Best Bets" are written by a guy named Kieran Francis. Kieran only gives 4 tips each round, which is only 1 bet in selected games, which vary from winning team, line betting to who will kick a goal.

Are Sporting News AFL Tips any good?

Not exactly. Considering they are selecting a finite amount of tips, and the ones they are promoting as their "Best Bets" - then they should be considering them to be a lock. However, more often than not they do not get up. They have provided much less tips than the other tipsters, and are falling well behind on their ROI.

Kruzey AFL Tips

Kruzeys' AFL Tips are written by a guy named Ben Harris. Ben gives a tip for each AFL game which is generally a high paying win, over/under or line bet, but also a combination of two (e.g. Geelong to win (1-39) and over 163.5 points). Ben does not give player bets or same game multis.

Are Kruzey's AFL Tips any good?

Kruzey has maintained the second highest ROI for most of the year (behind us) but recently they started doing several bets and SGM's for each AFL game, and have failed miserably. They're insights are better than most, and they do put a bit of time into their game previews. It just goes to show, how difficult it is to beat the bookie.

Who is the best AFL Tipster?

Seeing how we've got the highest ROI (clearly) and are the only tipster that is in the green, it isn't a stretch to say that we are the best (more particularly, Mason). Because we also provide same game multis on every single AFL game (which normally don't hit, but oh boy when they do it's big) - if you're a punter who uses any betting site that offers same game multi insurance, our ROI would be much higher.

When we are providing our AFL tips - they're actually the bets we put on every single week (some of anyway, we do plenty more). That doesn't mean you should follow us blindly, although we'd be flattered. It's best to know how to bet properly yourself. If you are here, you probably have your own idea on who will win each week. The Bont is always impressive and always a threat to winning Charlie, and honestly he deserves to win one - and this year is no exception. He is killing it in contested possessions, Supercoach points, score-involvements and basically any other noteworthy stat. Plus he has less players stealing votes this year, as English and Libba haven't been as good as last year - when Bont came second.

AFL Premiership Tips

Carlton is our current tip to win the 2024 AFL Premiership.

We liked them and tipped them from before the season, but still think they are the best this year. Sydney are looking unstoppable, but my gut feeling is telling me Carlton - that and they are getting some good tight game exposure coming into the finals, less so are Sydney.

Charlie was our initial thought of who would win from before the year, but didn't like how short the odds were considering he could aways get injured. At this stage he is pretty much a lock, and he is closing in on a record of consecutive games we're he has kicked a goal this century, so his teammates will help him out more.
