2024 Historical Coleman Medal Tips
- Before Opening Round Tip
Our tip for the Coleman Medal before Opening Round was for Nick Larkey, with odds of 10.00 ❌ at PlayUp
29/2/2024
"I do think Charlie has it, but I'm backing Larkey as a roughie. Larkey has an equal goal average to what Charlie Curnow had in 2023 (3.1 average goals). However, Larkey has a much higher goal kicking accuracy, which was 71% for 2023.
Larkey finished with 71 goals last year, only 7 shy from Charlie who had 78. Although, Kangaroos only won 3 games last year, and with some hard running new young players, we think they will perform much higher this year. As long as Larkey keeps slotting them through anyway and everyway - he'll be getting more opportunities to kick them this year, so he'll definitely be one to watch".

- Round 4 Tip
Our tip for the Coleman Medal winner before Round 4 was for Jesse Hogan for 7.00 ✅ at EliteBet
4/4/2024
"We've had a pivot since the opening round where we were backing Nick Larkey, to GWS spearhead Jesse Hogan. Giant's were always going to do well this year, but we underestimated how strong they would be, and thought Toby Greene would be kicking a lot of their goals. Hogan is boasting one of the best goal kicking accuracies in the AFL at the moment, and with the constant delivery he is getting, he will surely kick a lot of goals this year.
GWS will definitely be a top 6 team this year, and as shown below in the past 10 years the Coleman Medal has only been won by a player outside the top 6 twice. Interestingly, both of these were Carlton, so Hogan still needs to pip McKay and Charlie Curnow, both who have started like a house on fire and won't be slowing down with Carlton continually winning games".

- Round 11 Tip
Our tip for the Coleman Medal winner before Round 11 was for Jesse Hogan for 5.00 ✅ at Unibet
20/5/2024
"As of Round 11, it is all even stevens between four players sitting at 29 goals a piece. But the one we are continuing to back is Jesse Hogan.
It's a pretty tough bet at this stage, all with a pretty similar scoring accuracy. However, even though Waterman has been killing it, Oscar Allen isn't too far away, so he soon he will no longer be top dog in the West Coast forward line, and will be better used further up the field.
Ben King is looking pretty tough at this stage, but Gold Coast have a hard run home, and unlikely he will be kicking many massive bags for the rest of the year.
Seeing how Toby Greene is having an off year (yes I get why), Jesse is the main man for the Giants up forward and will be imperative to their success this year. For that reason, I'm continuing to back him".

- Round 16 Tip
Our tip for the Coleman Medal winner before Round 16 was for Charlie Curnow for 1.68 ❌ at BlueBet

"I did have him at the start of the year, but wanted to back Larkey as a roughie because Curnow was paying peanuts, and I thought North's form in the second half of the year, would've come a lot sooner.
However, Charlie has cemented himself as the most consistent goal kicker in the league at the minute, and he doesn't even look like he is trying to win, and just playing his part. McKay has forgotten where the goal posts are again and the team is happy him playing second fiddle, but Curnow has one of the best accuracies and is converting very often when they deliver it to him, which is often as the Blues are up and firing at the moment.
Still at the current odds, I wouldn't recommend going crazy on him considering he could get injured or someone could kick a massive bag and the tides could turn, but otherwise it's basically a lock at this point".

- Round 22 Tip
Our tip for the Coleman Medal winner before Round 22 was for Charlie Curnow for 2.10 ❌ at Sportsbet

"With only three games to go, it's a two horse race. I've got behind Jesse for two out of the five Coleman tips throughout this year, but sticking with Charlie while the chips are down, and the odd's are up.
Charlie has had a quiet couple of weeks while Carlton have been stinking it up, while Jesse has been on fire and has kicked 22 goals in the last 5 games - but GWS have been on a streak.
It has been a massive topsy turvy season for every single team, and Carlton desperately need some good form to make finals. They have a tough game this week against Hawthorn, but afterwards they have some good win chances against West Coast and St Kilda, and could very easily kick a bag.
GWS, who have only just won their past two games, have some more tough games coming up with Brisbane, Freo and Bulldogs. Three of the most in-form teams in the comp. Jesse has been looking unbelievable lately and winning many 1 on 1s, but the delivery into Charlie over the next 3 weeks will be much more frequent, than for Hogan".

Previous Coleman Medal Winners Takeaways
In the past 10 Coleman Medals, only twice has a winner played in a team that did not finish within the top 8 (or top 6 for that matter). Both times, it was Carlton.
The last three Coleman Medals have been won by a Carlton player. As we are anticipating them to go far this year, it is likely that with their playing structure they will continue to have high goal scorers.
They also have increased in their end of year position by 4 places each year, for the past 3 years. We think that they have every chance to finish on top this year to continue the trend, and that'll do wonders for my OCD.
