Betting Tip: Adelaide by 80

After getting done by the up and coming Hawthorn, the inconsistent Adelaide will be really looking at getting this one back and keeping their finals hopes alive. With Lefau out now to add to Richmond's huge injury list, there'll be one less person converting at the goal square - and they are already short in this department.

Adelaide to smack them, but Dusty to get a few goals - and Cumberland to sneak one in again.

Betting Tip: Bulldogs by 20

After a week off you'd be forgiven for thinking Brisbane might come out firing, but I think they have checked out this year.

The Doggies looked good against the Pies last week, and they are another team hanging on a lifeline to make the finals - although they will be missing Sam Darcy who has been consistent up forward, and now has a few weeks off and has just ruined his Rising Star shot to give Maynard a cheap one - probably worth it.

Betting Tip: GWS by 25

Hawthorn have earned some respect in the last 5 games, where they have registered 4/5 wins and lost by 1 point (to Port). On the flip side, GWS have been in form slump and have lost 3/4 last games. I've been spieling a lot of "must wins" this round, and here is another example for both teams. The Hawks are on the march after a slow start, but the Giants really need to turn around their current form to make it all the way.

After a week off, I'm backing the Orange Tsunami that has receded of late, to crash down hard at Tassie.

Betting Tip: West Coast by 20

Could this be North Melbournes first win of the season? No. Even with West Coast's heart and soul Harley Reid missing out, over in Perth they should still win. If North ever were going to have a chance it would probably be this game, and Wardlaw and McKercher will be up and about and looking to show off now that they're in for the running for the Rising Star.

But again, over in Perth, even if the entire Kangaroo team get's a business class seat, I think the Eagles will still be too strong.

Betting Tip: Gold Coast by 18

The Suns have been some serious quiet achievers this year, and have just snuck into the 8 after hilariously breaking Essendon's win streak. St Kilda, on the other have have been loud non-achievers, better word yet would be losers - and I think this week will be no different.

The books have it as a tight game, but Gold Coast has a very hard-nut midfield with Rowell and Miller, complemented well with the big Ben's up forward slotting goals. I think they will win comfortably.

Betting Tip: Sydney by 30

Although this week is 1st v 3rd and Sydney are really overdue for a beating, Geelong aren't going to give it to them, and certainly not in Sydney. Geelong broke their 4 game losing streak last week against second last placed Richmond, and they only won that in the last quarter. And at home.

If Richmond's Auskick can give Geelong a scare, Sydney should give them a hiding.

Betting Tip: Essendon by 4

The Blues have been in pretty good form the last few weeks, and Essendon longest non-lose streak for as long as I can remember (before 2012, which is where the AFL data stops) - was broken by Gold Coast. If they won that game, I would have tipped Carlton, but I think they will get back on track.

Carlton were our premiership tip at the start of the year, which ironically changed to Essendon. It should be a packed house and I think it will be game of the week with a goal in it. Essendon to win just, Fantasia to snag a few against his former club, and the umpires confused on which team they should favour. And, it'll be interesting to see which guernsey McKay decides to put on this weekend.

This would normally be another cracker of a hit-out, but Melbournes form from last week and Collingwood playing their twos, might drop the standard a bit.

However, Collingwood are big game players and on the public holiday there will be another full house at the G - I think the Pies will prevail, and Daicos and his different set of umpiring rules that he doesn't need, will put on a clinic.
