BetLocal is a solid, modern bookmaker run on the ASX-listed BetMakers betting software. After a pretty quiet mid-year launch in 2024, they've earned a small but respectable following from punters who especially appreciate the hands-on service provided and leniency for winning players who would otherwise get banned much faster at bigger corporate bookmakers.
BetLocal's got same game/race multis, protest payouts, member promos and all the markets you'd expect including stat markets like marks and tackles for the AFL. They're a better racing bookie though with fixed odds for all domestic and most international races, along with top tote on Aussie gallops. Super Shano's Specials also offer weekly value bets which we've also enjoyed taking advantage of.
Overall, like most other small bookies, it's hard for BetLocal to compete with the sheer number of features and markets on offer at the likes of Bet365 and Ladbrokes but they're offering their punters a quality betting experience, especially for players who want to keep their bets in the hands of an Aussie-owned company.

For example, at Redcliffe, BetLocal had the favourite - Alice Rhayne Bow at $1.50 fixed odds, the second market elect Ruby Dear at $3.40 and the third market elect at $7.00. TAB were offering $1.60 for Alice Rhayne Bow, $3.60 for Ruby Dear and $9.00 for the third market elect.
It was clear when doing comparisons that BetLocal consistently couldn’t match it with the giants with their racing odds. Besides this, BetLocal do well in most areas. They offer a straightforward betting experience with minimal fuss and decent perks.
