Meet the MyBettingSites Australia Team
Jacob (not happy), Jimmy (happy), Mason (content), and Ben (way too happy).
Mason the main man at My Betting Sites, was too much of a thug for Soccer, yet too timid for Rugby. Betting wise, he is an expert in both.
Jimmy an AFL obsessed lad (without the talent) - after September, he quickly transitions this passion into the Spring Carnival. He claims for racing, we suspect fashion.
Ben our resident Pom is a wealth of knowledge on Soccer, Horse Racing and on that crap Cricket team that can't win the Ashes.
Jacob our Swedish born hunk is naturally an Ice Hockey fanatic and Swedish Soccer fan. Although no one cares about the latter, he is also unsurprisingly a bit of a nerd and an Esports expert.

Which Betting Site Should You Choose?
Should you choose the most popular betting site, the biggest betting site, the newest betting site or the betting site with the best deposit bonuses? The truth is that for 90% of punters, any betting site will do the trick - they all have similar odds for popular sports and racing events.
However, there are unique features and promos out there. It's also true that some bookies have slightly better odds than others on average. At the end of the day, the choice is yours but we're here to help so check out our recommendations below.

The Most Popular Betting Sites Among Our Users
The five most popular Australian betting sites on My Betting Sites Australia last month (November 2024) were:
Bookmaker | Punters Visiting* |
21.3% | |
20.4% | |
17.6% | |
11.9% | |
10.2% |
*The percentage of users who visited each betting site of the users who visited at least one bookmaker
ChromaBet launched on October 31st, 2024 and quickly followed the trend of other new bookies on MyBettingSites by getting a lot of attention from punters.
They're much the same as other BetCloud betting sites with a wide racing selection that includes insights and extra info for major Aussie races. You'll also find features like cash out, Best of 3 Totes, and a deep sports bet builder on ChromaBet.
Naturally, Betcloud's newest bookmaker, TitanBet, which launched on November 1 2024 was one of the most popular betting sites with our users last month
Like other bookmakers that use BetCloud, TitanBet has early racing odds, same game multis, solid racing fixed odds, Best of 3 Tote odds, member promos (use code MBS100 or check out Neds or BetM if you're after these) and AFL/NRL stat markets.
Long awaited PuntZone came online in October 2024, launching just in time for the Spring Carnival. PuntZone is the offspring of experienced bookie Da He, and offers best of 3 totes on every Australian horse race and racing specials.
PunZone is a Generation Web Bookmaker, and its owner is also behind PuntNow, JustBet and WinnersBet - so it should be no surprise to experienced punters that PuntZone offers some decent opening specials and regular promos.
While PuntZone is a solid option for racing, it could do more in adding more obscure sports to it's sportsbook, and deeper markets in popular leagues such as AFL and EPL. There are same game multis available, but the markets could be improved to add more goal scorers, passes etc.
After a break over the winter, BetCloud began releasing new betting sites again in August, likely in preparation for the 2024 spring racing carnival. Old Gill was the first of these bookies and was August's most visited bookie on MyBettingSites with 18.4% of our users choosing them. In September this percentage was bested by BuffaloBet (despite the fact that they only went live on Septmeber 13 they still managed to claim over 20% of the visits) and in October it was ChromaBet that took over this mantle with 14.5% of users visiting them. Bet777 didn't have much of a chance of claiming this title as it launched towards the end of October and was followed by some even newer brands but they still managed to get 11.9% of visits in November.
Bet777 is run by local bookmaker Gary Fitzpatrick (also behind Betprofessor and Wellbet) and offers plenty of racing and sports markets including blended multis and top tote prices. Bet777's also got offers for new customers (use our code MBS100 when signing up) but is missing a range of stand-out features (like betr's Stat Wars).
Alpha Bet is a bookmaker that we haven't actually reviewed yet but they are on our list of all betting sites in Australia. Despite not featuring much on our site, they were the fifth most popular bookmaker on our site in November - a testament to punters' hunger for new betting sites.
Overall, Alpha Bet is a solid new bookie but still not close to competing with the likes of Neds and Bet365 on the number of markets available to bet on, features offered or quality of odds.
What about most popular betting sites this year?
The most popular betting sites in Australia each month are significantly affected by which bookmakers are new - of course this holds true for the whole year too, but to a lesser degree. From January 1 through November 30, 2024, the five most popular betting sites in Australia among our users were:
- JustBet (9.0%)
- TradieBET (7.9%)
- Betfocus (7.5%)
- PremiumBet (6.8%)
- HavaBet (6.8%)
The Betting Accounts Every Punter Should Have
Our users and experts have rated bookies on 57 different factors to come up with a list of Australia's top 10 betting sites but even among that list, there are three bookmakers that we keep coming back to - Bet365, Neds/Ladbrokes and Betfair. These betting sites are elite with standout odds, a range of unique extra features and options and, of course, a massive range of markets to bet on.
If you're new to online betting sites in Australia then these are the three bookmakers we think you should use first.
Bet365 - The Deepest Sportsbook
- Website: bet365.com.au
- Apps: iOS, Android
- Software: Bet365 (own odds)
- Features: Same Game Multis, Cash Out, Live Streaming, Statistics, Protest Payout, Live Golf Tracker, My Horses, Bet365 Card
- Racing Products: Fixed, Best Tote, Fixed + Best Tote, Top Fluc, Exotics, Each Way Extra, Specials (eg. cover bets)
Bet365 is the world's leading licensed bookmaker. Operating in over 150 countries and with more than 60 million players, Bet365 is often the first to release odds for nearly 40 different sports, novelties and politics categories - this makes them particularly popular for sharp bettors who want to nab early value before prices adjust to the market.
Another thing putting them ahead of the rest is the depth of markets available with a variety of stat markets, alternative and Asian lines, futures and novelty options on offer as both singles or within Bet365's pioneering bet builder.
Given Bet365's global reach and popularity, their markets are also very liquid meaning it takes several big bets or weeks of consistently winning before restrictions come your way - something that cannot be said of most Australian bookmakers. It also means their odds on outsiders are bigger than most.
Finally, their live betting interface includes extensive live-streaming options for tennis, soccer, basketball and a range of other sports, plus live trackers and stats for a range of sports including golf and hockey. You'll often find that these stats are more up-to-date than your TV streams, live score apps or even the official websites of the sport you're watching.
You cannot really go wrong with Bet365, their service is modern, fast, they have everything you'll want to bet on and their prices are up there with the best bookies.
Neds/Ladbrokes - Made for Aussies
- Website: neds.com.au or ladbrokes.com.au
- Apps: iOS, Android
- Software: Entain
- Features: Same Game Multis, Same Race Multis, Cash Out, Live Streaming, Comments, Tips, Protest Payout, Statistics, Form Filter, Previews, Blog, Neds Card
- Racing Products: Fixed, Best Tote, Best Tote + SP, Best of the Best, Mid Tote + 5%, Nom Tote, Starting Price, Top Fluc, Exotics, Specials (eg. fav vs field), Mystery Bets, Pick Your Own Odds, Pick Your Margin
Neds and Ladbrokes have the same owner which means almost identical features along with the same prices, odds and markets available at the two.
When it comes to racing Neds/Ladbrokes really stands out with everything from stats, tips, speedmaps and insights to early markets for Australian races and a massive range of international meets on offer. It also means live racing streaming, same race, blended and split multi options and even the ability to save favourite horses or filter them by form or other stats.
Perhaps the biggest drawcard at Neds/Ladbrokes are their opening specials and daily promotional offers for members who are signed in. Neds also has a very deep sportsbook as well along with hourly withdrawal processing, social betting options and a sophisticated multi-builder.
Neds/Ladbrokes really appeals to the Aussie punter with a strong focus on Australian leagues, multis and racing making them a very strong rival to Sportsbet and Bet365 in terms of markets, promos and features.
Betfair - Unbeatable Betting Odds
- Website: betfair.com.au
- Apps: iOS, Android
- Software: Betfair
- Features: Betting Exchange, Form Hub, Statistics, Price Graphs
- Racing Products: Back/Lay Betting
Betfair only offers their betting exchange in Australia but it's the product that has made Betfair one of the biggest betting sites in the world.
The Betfair Exchange works just like a normal bookmaker - you can back any available option at the price offered. However, with Betfair, there's also the opportunity to act as the bookmaker and lay any option i.e. bet against an outcome from happening.
What this means is that you'll get the best odds on most markets - because there's no bookmaker margin. It also means that if you back something and the price drops, you can bet against that outcome on to hedge your bet. And finally, if you're really sharp, you can do both of these things and trade using Betfair by backing an outcome when the price is high and laying it when the price drops or vice versa.
Regardless of all the pre-match and live trading opportunities on Betfair, they (almost always) have the best odds compared to every other Australian bookmaker.
What Sets the Best Betting Sites Apart?
If you have a few different betting accounts you'll notice that many bookmakers are very similar, some are even identical (apart from the name and colours).
That's because there are only a handful of software providers (BetMakers, Generation Web, Punterstech, Bet Cloud, and MyTrackPrice) that are used to power around 80% of all of the Australian betting sites.
With so many bookmakers available, and so many copies out there, finding the bookmakers with unique features, markets, and odds is key to finding a betting site that you can use for more than just the deposit bonus.
Unique Features You Should Be Using
Ladbrokes - Coach Quiz
Ladbrokes gives you a free shot at a prize pool of $1,000, by answering questions about an AFL game in a few seconds (e.g. who will win, who will score first). The faster you are the more points you can earn.
Betr - Sporting Insights
While sporting insights are nothing new, the extent that betr brings to the table is next level. With team insights, player insights, and summaries from Ben Dixon, Jason Dunstall (AFL) & Josh Morris (NRL)
Picklebet - Pick'ems
Pick'ems allows punters to put in their tips for free in AFL, NRL, NBA, and numerous eSports events every week, and accumulate points for the games that they win. A prize pool is split between the winners.
Bet Right - RD+ and RPX
Bet Right deserves two mentions here. Their RD+ (Racing Dividend Plus) means their racing odds are always (BT+SP) + 3%. Plus, when you place a bet, their RPX (Right Price Execution) ensures your odds are the same or more than Ladbrokes, TAB, and Sportsbet.
PlayUp - Rapidfire
Rapidfire allows you to choose which players will score the most fantasy points from five match-ups in different sporting match ups (AFL, NRL, NBA & more). You receive 20x your stake if you correctly select all 5.
Betfair - Betting Exchange
While it's not exactly a feature, more the premise of why it was built - Betfair is an exchange, not a bookmaker. So, you can bet 'for' or 'against', setting your own odds and acting as the bookmaker (which means no bookmaker margin and better odds).
Bookmakers With the Same Software/Odds
Australian bookmakers either use their own software to power their online betting sites and apps, or they use a software provider.
Even if they use a software provider, their odds may be unique for some markets (especially racing) but often they will be the same as all other bookmakers with the same software. The same goes for features too, some bookmakers that use the same software may have unique features, but most commonly they will all share the same extras.
Generally, we'd recommend trying a new software provider if you want a new betting site but if you like the features and odds on one of your current betting accounts then it could be a good idea to find another betting site that uses the same software. Of course, any bookmaker that uses its own software is also a good bet since they've likely invested a lot more in their product and so probably have more to offer than other betting sites.
Below we have listed all bookmaking software providers and all of the betting sites that use each software.
- Bookmakers that Use Their Own Software
- Bookmakers That Use BetMakers
- Bookmakers That Use Generation Web
- Bookmakers That Use Punterstech
- Bookmakers That Use BetCloud
- Bookmakers That Use MyTrackPrice
- Bookmakers That Use ApolloTech
- Bookmakers That Use BetMax

Our Approach To Reviewing Australian Bookmakers
We've been guilty of it in the past but most other websites just rank betting sites based on who pays them the most.
We've decided to change that and are in the process of updating all of our ratings to reflect the reality of betting sites in Australia. We're doing that in two ways; by soliciting user and expert reviews, and by updating our rating criteria to include the 57 factors we belive punters like us care about.
Collecting User & Expert Reviews
We know a lot about bookmakers but so do thousands of other Aussie punters. That's why we're on a mission to collect some of that knowledge and give it to our users - so you can get the unique insights and experience that come with years of betting online.
Sure, we could scan the App Store and filter through user comments (we actually do this), but a more efficient way is to pay punters like us to contribute to our site. That way we can make sure only the most passionate and level-headed voices are the ones giving you advice. Learn more about this process below.
Our Rating Criteria Explained
There are many things that we take into account when evaluating a betting site, remembering that not everything will tickle everyone's fancy.
- Racing Factors - Comparing odds, tote products, markets, tips, features & more to find the best horse racing betting sites
- Sports Factors - Including the number of sports, stat markets, odds, same game multis, sports insights, AFL, NRL, and more
- Software Factor - We rate the efficiency of the betting site, what the layout is like, and how efficient their betting apps are
- Support & Withdrawal Factors - This goes further than who offers PayPal or uses OSKO. We also rank the fastest withdrawal betting sites
- Promotion Factors - We can't say who offers what, but whether promos are unique and who offers frequent deposit bonuses

- βοΈ Software Factors
Live Betting
Live betting during game is a great way to make informed bets based on how the game is progressing, however it must only be done over the phone.Cash Out
Most betting agencies will give you worse odds to cash out, even if the game or race hasn't even started. Some offer dollar for dollar cash back though.Website Efficiency

Withdrawal Methods
Every bookmaker offers bank transfer, but some offer back to your card, PayPal or their own debit card so you get the winnings immediately.Deposit Methods Debit cards are the most popular and sometimes only one possible, but PayPal is still a popular deposit method for some punters.
Withdrawal Times
No one likes waiting for their winnings to be paid out and the good ones pay multiple times a day, even on weekends.Payout Limits
This is nearly directly correlated to the size of the bookmaker, but some may offer up to $1 million, and others may only be $1,000 in some markets.Payout Approval
This is usually for a first time payment, but some do it straight away, some will actually stat dec you, ask for 100 points of ID, everything but a DNA sample.Customer Support
Live chat is common for most bookies, but you can even directly message the owners of the real boutique bookmakers.Support Waiting Time
It's very annoying waiting for hours on support, it's good when betting agencies have the correct capacity at the correct time to handle issues.Support Friendliness
Smaller betting sites are more likely to want to keep you as a customer and may be more flexible, the corporates will generally treat you like a number.
- π€ Promotion Factors
Opening Specials
When you first create an account, some betting agencies are more generous with what promotions they may offer.Sports Promo Frequency
Many bookmakers will give a promo on popular sports, however AFL and NRL are season and on the weekend. Some offer them daily.Sports Promo Uniquity
Many promos are similar, such as money back if a leg loses for SGM, but others get more creative with boosted odds for certain things to happen in a game.Racing Promo Frequency
Same as sports, popular race days like the Melbourne Cup many are doing promos. But, racing happens every day of the week, and many offer them daily.Racing Promo Uniquity
The most common racing promos these days are if your runner comes 2nd, money back as bonus bets (some bookmakers do this up to 4th place).
