With private sports betting launching in July, 16 sportsbooks have already completed gaming registration with the AGLC, including an additional 17 online casinos.

Although some bettors might lose access to their currently preferred betting sites, Albertans will continue to have access to familiar brands as well as gain access to exciting new entries like FanDuel and BetMGM.

Below, we’ve evaluated and ranked these sportsbooks. Take a look at which sites you can expect to see in July and learn more about the features that set each site apart!

Available Sportsbooks Subject To Change

Betting sites that have completed gaming registration will also need to complete a commercial agreement with the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) in order to acquire official licensing.

1. Bet365 Alberta

Bet365 app store preview

✅ Integrated bet slip with live streaming through BetVision

✅ Deep NFL market depth, including alternate lines and player props

✅ One of the strongest live streaming offerings in Canada

✅ Highly responsive in-play interface with fast odds updates

❌ Cash out offers can feel conservative

❌ Restrictions may apply to consistently winning accounts

Our Thoughts

Bet365 is expected to be one of the most anticipated sportsbooks entering Alberta, especially for bettors who prioritize North American sports leagues and a premium live betting experience. Known globally for its fast moving in-play markets, deep market menus, and seamless live-streaming integration, Bet365 has built a reputation for delivering one of the most immersive live betting platforms in the industry.

Its NFL, MLB, and NBA coverage is particularly strong, featuring extensive market variety, flexible alternate lines, and consistent player prop depth week after week. While cash out terms can vary and limits may apply to highly successful players, Bet365 is widely regarded as one of the most complete sportsbooks available.

Best for: NFL, MLB, and NBA bettors and users who rely heavily on live betting
Not ideal for: Bettors looking for unrestricted long-term play

2. BetMGM Alberta

Bet MGM Ontario App

✅ Plenty of weekly promotions for existing users

✅ Strong live betting interface with low downtime on odds updates

✅ Up 2 early payout for Soccer

✅ 33+ sports to bet on including NBA, NHL, MLB, NFL, Soccer, and Cricket

❌ Higher withdrawal minimums than other sites

❌ Customer support experience can be inconsistent

Our Thoughts

BetMGM is one of the bigger brands coming to Alberta. They were one of the first sportsbooks to enter Ontario when they launched their private market in 2022. Since then, they have gained an excellent reputation for reliably and fast payouts, solid sports betting offerings, and consistent promotional value.

Although they don't always have the most betting markets to choose from, compared to sites like FanDuel, they do have an all around solid selection of markets for major North American sports leagues like NBA and NFL that go beyond basic props and halftime lines. The odds offered are also fairly competitive for most sports, making them an ideal place to compare for line shoppers.

Best for: Bettors looking for good all-around sportsbook with solid promotions
Not ideal for: Low-stake bettors or bettors looking for the best market depth

3. FanDuel Sportsbook Alberta

Fanduel Sportsbook Ontario

✅ Excellent live betting interface for NBA and NFL

✅ Live streams, stats, and in-play markets displayed side by side

✅ Strong same-game parlay tools and custom bet builders

✅ One of the deepest prop market depths in Canada

❌ Limited depth for international and niche sports

❌ Winning player may face limits

Our Thoughts

FanDuel is expected to generate serious interest if it enters Alberta’s regulated market, particularly among bettors who enjoy wagering on the NBA and NFL. The site is known for one of the best live betting experiences, offering live streams with integrated bet slips, low downtime on odds updates, and top-tier selection of in-play markets.

FanDuel’s biggest strengths typically show up in North American sports, especially basketball and football with deep player prop markets, combos, and solid half/quarter lines. While market depth can taper off slightly outside of its core leagues compared to more globally focused sportsbooks, FanDuel remains one of the strongest live-first platforms in regulated markets. It could quickly become a top choice for NBA and NFL fans looking for a smooth, integrated in-play betting experience.

Best for: NBA, NFL, MLB, and Live Bettors
Not ideal for: Bettors focused on international leagues or niche sports

4. Betway Alberta

Betway USA

✅ Excellent soccer market depth across major leagues

✅ Flexible bet builder with strong same-game options

✅ Live-streaming available on select events

✅ Decent coverage of major US sports (NBA, NFL, NHL)

❌ Odds aren't always the most competitive

❌ Limits may apply to consistently winning accounts

Our Thoughts

Betway is a popular choice among Alberta bettors, particularly for those who value simplicity and strong soccer coverage. The platform delivers one of the most accessible and consistent sportsbook experiences available, with a clean interface that performs smoothly across desktop and mobile. Placing bets, navigating live markets, and building parlays feels smooth, making it especially appealing for users who prefer a straightforward, no-frills betting environment.

The main trade-off typically comes down to pricing. Bettors who prioritize ultra-competitive odds or long-term value optimization may find stronger pricing elsewhere. For most users, however, especially those focused on ease of use and reliable live soccer coverage, Betway remains a dependable option in Alberta, and one that could become even more prominent as the province’s regulated market evolves.

Best for: Soccer bettors who value usability and live betting
Not ideal for: Sharp bettors chasing the best odds or high-limit play

5. DraftKings Sportsbook Alberta

Draft Kings Sportsbook i OS App from the App store

✅ Excellent spread betting markets across NFL, NBA, and NHL

✅ Strong focus on North American sports and major events

✅ Dedicated sections for playoffs and championship betting

✅ Reliable mobile app with straightforward navigation

❌ Secondary markets like spreads and props can carry higher vig than some competitors

❌ Higher minimum withdrawal requirements than many competitors

Our Thoughts

DraftKings appeals to Alberta bettors who focus on traditional spread betting, particularly across major North American sports. Its platform does a strong job of presenting spreads clearly and organizing key events, such as playoffs and championships, in a way that makes high-interest markets easy to find during peak betting periods.

Where DraftKings can feel limited is in overall platform polish and flexibility. The desktop interface is relatively minimal, and higher withdrawal minimums may frustrate more casual bettors. That said, for users who primarily bet spreads and prefer a sportsbook centered around North American leagues and marquee matchups, DraftKings remains a dependable option for Alberta players, and one that will likely play a notable role as the province’s regulated market continues to develop.

Best for: Bettors who primarily wager on spreads in major North American sports
Not ideal for: Low-stake bettors or users looking for advanced features and deep market customization

6. BET99 Alberta

Bet99 app store preview

✅ One of the strongest player prop sections in Canada

✅ Frequent odds boosts and specials for Canadian sports teams

✅ Solid bet builder for combining props and main lines

✅ Good coverage of major North American sports

❌ Higher minimum deposits than many competitors

❌ Fewer niche and international markets

Our Thoughts

BET99 stands out among Alberta bettors for its strong emphasis on player prop betting. The platform makes it easy to locate and filter props across major sports, which is especially appealing for users who prefer wagering on individual performances rather than full-game outcomes. For NHL, NFL, and NBA fans, this prop-focused structure is where BET99 delivers the most value.

Outside of player props, the offering is somewhat more limited. Market depth for smaller leagues and niche sports isn’t as extensive as some larger competitors, and higher minimum deposits may present a barrier for lower-stake bettors. Still, for players who primarily target props and want a sportsbook built around that experience, BET99 fills a clear and distinct role for Alberta bettors, particularly as the province’s betting landscape continues to evolve.

Best for: Bettors who primarily wager on player props
Not ideal for: Low-stake bettors or users looking for broad international coverage

7. Sports Interaction Alberta

Sports interaction app store preview

✅ Weekly promotions for parlay boosts

✅ Early Soccer payouts when team leads by 2

✅ Owned and Operated by Canadians

✅ Fantasy-style betting markets based of player performance

❌ Depth of betting markets not as extensive as other sites like FanDuel

❌ Live betting is less optimal than other sites

Our Thoughts

Sports Interaction is a familiar brand that has long been available in Alberta. As one of the longest-running sportsbooks in North America, Sports Interaction has built its reputation around reliability, Canadian sports betting interests, and a site that feels more locally aligned than many international brands.

Sports Interaction is likely to stand out most through its coverage of leagues like the CFL and NHL. CFL bettors can usually find more than simple game lines like moneylines and totals, while the NHL is one of the stronger areas of the sportsbook thanks to regular time markets, overtime markets, player props, game props, and futures. It may not always offer the sharpest odds or deepest international sports coverage, but Sports Interaction remains a dependable option for bettors who want Canadian sports coverage, parlay promotions, and exclusive betting markets.

Best for: Parlay bettors and soccer bettors looking for early payouts
Not ideal for: Bettors prioritizing odds value and depth of betting markets

8. BetVictor

Betvictor app preview

✅ Daily odds boosts and boosted SGPs

✅ Lucky Dip feature for boosted odds in exchange for increased risk

✅ One of the best priced sites for outrights and futures

✅ Early payout for soccer on teams leading by 2 at halftime

❌ Player prop depth not as deep as other sites in this list

❌ No live streaming available

BetVictor, founded in 1946 as a trackside bookmaker, is a popular betting site that has long been available in Canada. They have a strong global presence, trusted by players and regularly audited by eCOGRA for payout fairness. Though some bettors can experience some frustrations when proceeding through account verification, payouts are generally reliable and their customer support is easy to reach when issues arise.

Soccer bettors can find over 100 betting markets to choose from, similar to Betway, with early payout features for moneylines. Cricket bettors will also find similar depth for the IPL, with bet boosts on every game.

For those looking for something a bit more fun and risky, BetVictor also provides their Luck Dip feature on select markets, The feature adds another layer of RNG, randomly generating a set line once you place your bet at incredibly boosted odds.

Its main weaknesses are tied to odds value and North American market depth. Bettors looking for deep player props or consistently sharper pricing may prefer other options like Bet365 or BET99.

Best for: Bettors sticking to Soccer and international sports like Cricket
Not ideal for: Bettors focused on NBA, NHL, NFL, and MLB betting market variety

9. BetRivers Alberta

Betrivers Ontario

✅ Strong pre-match coverage across major North American sports

✅ Good CFL market availability compared to many competitors

✅ Prop Central helps surface popular prop bets quickly

✅ Competitive odds on mainstream markets

❌ Mobile app feels dated compared to newer sportsbooks

❌ Withdrawals can be slower than average

Our Thoughts

BetRivers is a solid option for Alberta bettors who focus primarily on pre-match wagering rather than live betting. The sportsbook provides broad coverage across major North American leagues, including stronger-than-average CFL markets, and makes it easy to browse available bets without relying heavily on complex builders or layered tools.

Where BetRivers can feel less competitive is in overall platform polish. The app isn’t as modern or feature-heavy as some higher-ranked sportsbooks, and withdrawal processing times may be slower than expected. Still, for traditional bettors who prefer reviewing markets ahead of game time and placing straightforward wagers, BetRivers serves a clear and practical role for Alberta players, especially as the province’s betting landscape continues to expand.

Best for: Pre-match bettors focused on North American sports
Not ideal for: Live bettors or users who want a modern, fast-moving app

10. Caesar's Sportsbook Alberta

Caesars sportsbook app preview

✅ Competitive odds across major sports

✅ Wide range of payment methods available

✅ Integrated casino alongside the sportsbook

✅ Well-designed mobile app with stable performance

❌ Live betting experience isn’t as polished as top-tier books

❌ Lacks advanced sports betting features

Our Thoughts

Caesars Sportsbook appeals to Alberta bettors who want both sports betting and casino games available within a single platform. Odds are generally competitive across major sports, and the range of payment options makes it accessible to a wide variety of users. The mobile app is also a strong point, offering a clean and reliable experience for placing bets on the go.

Where Caesars can feel less competitive is on the sports betting innovation side. Live betting is more limited compared to top-tier sportsbooks, and there are fewer tools for bettors who prefer building complex wagers or customizing their bets. Still, for users who value solid odds and the convenience of an all-in-one sportsbook and casino, Caesars remains a dependable option for Alberta bettors, especially as the market continues to evolve.

Best for: Bettors who want sports betting and casino access in one place
Not ideal for: Live bettors or users looking for advanced betting tools

11. Pointsbet Alberta

Points Bet Ontario

✅ Unique betting formats like PointsBetting and Name a Bet

✅ Strong odds and coverage for major North American sports

✅ Well-built mobile app with smooth performance

✅ Good live betting tools for experienced users

❌ Payment options are more limited than many competitors

❌ PointsBetting format carries higher risk and isn’t beginner-friendly

Our Thoughts

PointsBet is built for Alberta bettors who want more involvement in how their wagers unfold. Its alternative betting formats, most notably PointsBetting and “Name a Bet”, provide a level of flexibility and upside that traditional sportsbooks typically don’t offer. For confident, hands-on bettors who enjoy customizing their risk and reward profile, this structure adds a layer of engagement beyond standard spreads and totals.

That added flexibility does come with increased volatility. PointsBetting, in particular, isn’t suited to every bettor, and newer players may find the format less intuitive than conventional wager types. Combined with a slightly narrower range of payment options compared to some competitors, PointsBet may not be the most accessible sportsbook for casual users. However, for Alberta bettors who enjoy experimenting with different betting formats and are comfortable managing risk, it offers something genuinely distinct, especially as the province’s competitive landscape continues to evolve.

Best for: Bettors who like experimenting with alternative bet types
Not ideal for: Risk-averse users or bettors who prefer simple, traditional wagers

12. theScore Bet Alberta

Thescore bet app ontario

✅ Excellent live scores and real-time game tracking

✅ Deep integration with theScore sports media ecosystem

✅ Highly rated mobile betting app

✅ Supports both pre-match and live betting

❌ Desktop sportsbook is functional but less refined than the app

❌ Market depth is more limited than full-service sportsbooks

Our Thoughts

theScore Bet appeals to Alberta bettors who like staying close to the action while following live sports. Built around theScore’s sports media platform, its biggest strength is the seamless integration between live scores, statistics, and betting markets. This setup allows users to track games and place wagers without switching between apps or tabs, creating a smooth experience for bettors who engage with games in real time.

While theScore Bet does offer a desktop sportsbook, the platform’s mobile app is where it performs best. Market depth and advanced betting tools don’t match the capabilities of larger sportsbooks, which can make it feel more like a companion betting option than a full primary destination. Still, for Alberta bettors who value live scores, quick in-game wagers, and a sportsbook connected to a familiar sports media brand, theScore Bet fills that role well as the province’s betting landscape continues to evolve.

Best for: Bettors who want live scores, stats, and betting tightly integrated
Not ideal for: Users seeking deep markets, advanced tools, or a desktop-first experience

13. Bally Bet Alberta

Bally bet app preview

✅ Plenty of profit boost promotions

✅ Daily second chance bet offers

✅ 100+ markets for betting on the NFL

✅ Fast payout speeds for most payment methods

❌ Winning accounts can be limited

❌ Market depth is less than optimal for NBA, NHL, and Soccer

Our Thoughts

Bally Bet will be a new sportsbook and casino available to those in Alberta. Up until now, it has only been available to those in Ontario, operating through AGCO licensing since 2022. The site mainly focuses on major North American sports, like football, hockey, and basketball, backed by frequent promotions centered around profit boosts and second chance bets.

Their biggest strength is for American Football, providing over 100 betting markets to choose from, odds boosts on select lines, and daily profit boosts throughout the week. However, the depth of betting markets is less optimal for other sports. NBA, NHL, MLB, and Soccer fans will find a better selection of props, combos, and other betting markets on sites like BET99 and FanDuel.

Best for: NFL bettors looking for daily promotions
Not ideal for: NBA, NHL, MLB, and Soccer bettors

14. BetNova Alberta

Betnova desktop preview

✅ Boosted bet builders and regular odds boosts

✅ 80+ betting markets for the NBA and NHL

✅ 200+ betting markets for Soccer

✅ 7+ titles for eSport bettors

❌ No mobile app available

❌ Bet builder limited to select sports

Our Thoughts

BetNova is another new betting site coming to Alberta, only recently launching in Ontario and Australia earlier this year. Although it hasn't had time to build a reputation among online bettors yet, it has shown some real strengths that set it apart from other sites.

We found a solid selection of betting markets for the NBA, NHL, and Soccer (mainly for the Premier League), ranging from 70 all the way to 200 markets to choose from. Looking a bit deeper, the real strengths are for the NBA and NHL. Betting markets are great when it comes to props and most markets are viable with the bet builder for parlay bettors. However, for soccer the markets are mainly straight bets, with fewer viable markets for parlay bettors to choose from on the bet builder.

Although the odds offered on BetNova are far less competitive than other sites like BetMGM or FanDuel, and the lack of promotions past sign-up bonuses can provide less value, the boosted odds and bet builder boosts can sometimes provide more value on select markets than mainstream options.

Best for: NBA and NHL bettors looking for boosted odds and bet builders
Not ideal for: Soccer and NFL bettors or those hunting promotions

15. Monopoly Casino & Sportsbook Alberta

Monopoly app preview

✅ Frequent promotions and odds boosts

✅ Free-to-play games that can unlock sports bets

✅ Pre-match and live betting available

✅ Well rated mobile app (4.6 stars with 563 reviews on Apple)

❌ Slow withdrawal speeds

❌ Betting markets are limited to basic game lines and props

Our Thoughts

Monopoly Casino and Sportsbook is another new site, both for Alberta and Canada as a whole. They recently started operating in Ontario earlier this year, with the most positive reviews being for the Casino side of the site.

The sports betting portion of Monopoly is less polished. Bettors can find 20+ sports to choose from, including popular options like the Basketball, Hockey, Football, Baseball, and Soccer. However, betting markets are very limited between basic game lines and a handful of props. On the plus side, the promotions can be rewarding and bettors can access free-2-play games that unlock free opportunities for sports bets.

Best for: Bettors who stick to casino games but want sports betting within the same platform
Not ideal for: Bettors focused purely on sports betting

16. DAZN Bet Alberta

Daznbet App preview

✅ Bet builder with sliders for totals and spreads

✅ Boosted odds on pre-built parlays

✅ Betting markets accompanied with game insights

✅ Live streaming available on select games

❌ Limited market depth for the NHL & NFL

❌ Odds tend to be less competitive than other sites higher on this list

DAZN Bet, which previously operated as an offshore betting site through a license sources from Gibraltar, is another exciting addition to growing list of options in Alberta. It focuses primarily on popular European sports like Soccer and Tennis, with additional solid market depths for international leagues like Cricket.

We like that the bet builder offered provides sliders for totals and spreads, as well as an insights tab found in the betting market categories, which lists head-to-head statistics to better inform wagering decisions. For Tennis, DAZN Bet offers various set specific markets as well various props like aces, double faults, and breaks. For Soccer, the depth is even more varied, with corner and card options, as well as various game props.

For fans of sports that are more popular outside of North America, DAZN Bet provides one of the best offerings. Although, NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLB fans might find that they are better served on other sportsbooks.

Best for: Bettors looking to bet on international sports
Not ideal for: Bettors looking to bet on popular North American sports leagues

Will Play Alberta Remain Available After the iGaming Launch?

Even after Alberta’s regulated iGaming market officially launches, Play Alberta is expected to remain active. Operated by the Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC), Play Alberta currently serves as the province’s official online sportsbook and casino platform, and the introduction of private operators will expand the market, not replace the government-run offering.

Under Alberta’s upcoming competitive framework, private sportsbooks will apply for provincial licenses and operate alongside Play Alberta in a regulated environment similar to Ontario’s model. This means bettors will have more choice than ever before, with Play Alberta continuing to offer its provincially backed platform while newly licensed private sportsbooks compete on odds, promotions, and features.

For players, this creates a more competitive landscape post-launch: you’ll still be able to use Play Alberta if you prefer a government-operated platform, while also gaining access to a wider range of licensed sportsbooks entering the province.

Alberta Betting Sites Summary

As Alberta moves closer to launching its regulated iGaming market, the variety of betting sites completing gaming registration continues to grow. Currently, around 13 sportsbooks are registered, alongside 10+ major online casinos and poker brands.

If you’ve made it this far and still aren’t sure which sportsbook might suit you post-launch, here’s a quick starting point. New bettors may appreciate Betway for its simplicity, while FanDuel stands out for live betting depth and player props. BetMGM is a strong option for fans of major North American leagues like the NFL, NHL, and NBA, and Sports Interaction is often a go-to for those focused on Canadian sports.

As always, we’ll continue updating this page with confirmed license approvals, new entrants, and any major developments leading up to Alberta’s official launch, so feel free to check back as the market takes shape.

Alberta Betting Sites FAQs

Is sports betting legal in Alberta?

Yes. Albertans can currently place bets through the provincially operated platform Play Alberta. However, offshore sites are currently not legal in the province. With the upcoming launch of Alberta's private market in July, Albertans will have a larger list of legal sites to choose from.

When is Alberta's new iGaming market expected to launch?

Alberta’s regulated iGaming market is expected to launch July 13th. Online iGaming operators have already begun registration, waiting for further approval from the Alberta iGaming Corporation.

What new sportsbooks are expected to become available in Alberta?

While licensing approvals are still pending, several major brands are expected to enter Alberta. These include well-known operators that already hold licenses in Ontario and other regulated markets, such as BetMGM, FanDuel, BetRivers, PointsBet, and others.

What changes for bettors after the launch?

Once Alberta’s regulated market launches, bettors can expect greater competition, more promotional offers, improved consumer protections, and clearer regulatory oversight. Licensed operators will be required to follow provincial compliance standards, including responsible gambling safeguards and transparent terms. Overall, the betting environment should become safer and more competitive.

Will I still be able to use my current sportsbook?

That depends on the operator. Sportsbooks that obtain an Alberta license will continue operating under the new framework, like Sports Interaction. Others may choose to apply, adjust their offering, or potentially exit the market depending on regulatory requirements. As the launch approaches, operators are expected to clarify their plans for Alberta players.
