Powerplay becomes one of the latest sportsbooks to officially launch in Alberta, bringing a straightforward sports betting experience and online casino.
The Canadian focused sportsbook enters the province, expanding the available list of betting sites in Alberta to 20.
Powerplay has been in Canada for years, previously accepting players from Alberta and one of the earliest licence holders in Ontario.
Powerplay Alberta Officially Goes Live
Powerplay has officially entered Alberta's regulated sports betting market after completing its registration with the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) and securing a commercial agreement with the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC).
Powerplay's biggest strength is its straightforward design, which makes sports betting feel more approachable, especially for those newer to sportsbooks and casual bettors.
Rather than using traditional betting terminology, Powerplay often labels its markets using simpler wording, such as "Who Will Win" instead of "Moneyline," which can be helpful for those unfamiliar with these terms.
Although Powerplay provides a decent overall experience, it does fall behind some of Alberta's larger sportsbooks when it comes to market depth and pricing. However, alongside the sportsbook, Powerplay also launched its online casino in Alberta, featuring more than 1,200 games from popular software providers including Pragmatic Play, Playtech, Evolution Gaming, and Games Global.
The casino offers a solid selection of slots, table games, and live dealer titles, including blackjack, roulette, baccarat, and interactive game shows. Another highlight is its fast withdrawal which process daily, including weekends.
