How We Rank and Analyze Betting Sites
- Value of Odds
With the expertise of our betting site professionals, we assess the value of odds offered by each sportsbook. To ensure complete objectivity, we utilize margin calculators and other advanced tools to determine the odds margins. These margins represent the portion of your potential winnings that the betting site retains for their service. Lower margins translate to better value for bettors.
Understanding odds value is crucial as it helps us gauge how competitive a sportsbook is compared to others. Additionally, the odds value can vary depending on the sportsbook’s focus, particularly in relation to specific sports, and we make sure to highlight these differences in our reviews.
- Sports Coverage
Sports coverage can vary widely between operators, so identifying which sports are available on each platform is a key focus in our reviews. We want to ensure bettors are fully informed about the sports they can bet on, helping them choose the best betting sites for their preferences. Additionally, the range of sports offerings may differ, with some bookmakers specializing in certain sports and offering enhanced features like live streaming tailored to those areas. We make sure to detail these specialties in our reviews to give you a clear picture of what each site offers.
- Betting Experience
Above all else, we prioritize the overall betting experience on each platform. From unique wagering tools that help bettors make informed decisions to comprehensive live-betting offerings, we thoroughly evaluate both the strengths and limitations of these features. Our goal is to provide you with a clear understanding of what each sportsbook has to offer, so you can choose the site that best fits your needs. We want every bettor to sign up with a sportsbook that not only delivers an exceptional betting experience but also provides the tools necessary to support and enhance their betting strategies.
- Mobile Experience
A large majority of bettors now access sportsbooks via mobile apps or browsers, which is why we pay close attention to how each site performs on mobile devices. We thoroughly test the mobile versions to evaluate how well the platform functions across various devices. Our focus includes the responsiveness of the app or mobile browser version, the availability of additional features like push notifications, ease of navigation, and the overall quality of the betting experience on mobile. This ensures that bettors enjoy a seamless, user-friendly experience, no matter how they access the site.
- Payment Options
Payment options play a crucial role in ensuring accessibility for all bettors. A limited selection of payment methods can restrict access to a sportsbook, so we make it a priority to detail every accepted payment method in our reviews. We clearly distinguish between deposit and withdrawal methods, ensuring bettors understand their options. Additionally, we focus on identifying payment methods that are widely used in Canada, such as Interac, to ensure Canadian bettors have a convenient experience.
- Legality And Security
Legality is a top priority for us. We want to ensure that all bettors are using safe and legal sportsbooks. To guarantee this, we verify that each sportsbook holds valid licenses to operate both nationwide and, if applicable, in specific provinces like Ontario. These licenses ensure that the operator meets regulatory standards and provides a secure environment for bettors. Additionally, we go beyond just checking for licenses, we also conduct a thorough security review to ensure each site meets a minimum standard of safety before we feature it. This way, you can bet with confidence knowing you're using a trustworthy platform.
- Customer Support
When money is involved, we understand how crucial it is for bettors to have clear, reliable avenues for resolving issues. We also know how frustrating it can be to encounter problems during the sign-up process. That’s why we carefully review the customer support services offered by each betting site. If an operator fails to meet a minimum standard of customer support or if we notice a pattern of negative user reviews regarding support, we make sure to highlight these concerns in our reviews. Our goal is to ensure that bettors have access to responsive, effective support whenever they need it.
Best Alberta Sportsbooks By Sport
For avid fans of these popular sports, we've curated a list of top betting sites that excel in them. From platform features to market options and competitive odds, these sportsbooks are dedicated to delivering the best betting experience.

NHL Betting - Betway
Betway is a well-known brand in Canada, yet many don’t realize it’s a strong option for NHL betting. The platform is user-friendly on both desktop and mobile, making it a great choice for newcomers. Betway provides daily NHL odds, boosted bets, and special player and team props under its “daily NHL props” section. Bettors can wager on scenarios like Connor McDavid and Jack Hughes both scoring in an Oilers vs. Devils game or the Devils netting the most goals over a weekend. Additionally, player props include bets on assists, power-play points, and more, while “race to” markets let users predict which team will reach 2 or 3 goals first.
The only drawback is the lack of a customizable bet builder for NHL wagers. While Betway offers pre-built bets, users can’t modify them to create personalized combinations. For those seeking more flexibility, Bet365 provides a more customizable bet-building experience.

Soccer Betting - 888Sport
888sport stands out for soccer betting with a wide range of features not commonly found on other sportsbooks. Highlights include bet tracking, unique 888 specials, wagers on corners and cards, and the “Made for You” section, which suggests bets based on past selections. The “Bet Feed” is another great feature, showing trending bets from other users, such as whether people are backing Man City to win or Real Madrid’s game to have over 1.5 goals. These personalized and community-driven tools make betting more engaging and convenient.
Additional perks include diverse betting options, from total corners to specific card bets, adding depth to the experience. However, 888sport’s live betting could use improvement, as odds aren’t always displayed clearly, and the lack of live streaming is a drawback. Enhancing these features would make it an even stronger platform for soccer betting.

NBA Betting - Bet365
Bet365 is our top pick for NBA betting in Canada. The sportsbook offers up a bet builder that offers plenty of props, allowing players to bet on points, assists, three’s, along with combos. Bet365 also makes a lot of futures bets available - users can bet on regular season stats leaders, along with when LeBron will break the scoring record for example. Bet365 also offers up the best live-streaming coverage for the NBA in Canada.
The only thing about NBA betting with Bet365 that could be improved is with the level of customization that you can access on the bet builder. BetVictor, for example, allows far more customization for player points, and totals, whereas many of the options on Bet365 are fixed.
Bet365 operates pursuant to an agreement with iGaming Ontario.

NFL Betting - Leovegas
LeoVegas is a top contender for the best NFL betting site in Canada, rivaling Bet365. It offers same-game parlays, allowing users to combine moneyline, totals, and point spreads, as well as premade game combos like the Chiefs to win and under 54.5 total points. Personalization features make browsing easy, as users can pin the NFL as a favorite for quick access. LeoVegas also boasts some of the best odds in the country, often matching or even outperforming Pinnacle with low margins and competitive pricing.
Another standout feature is the adjustable spreads and toggle option, letting bettors modify total points and winning margins. Their mobile app is one of the best for NFL betting in Canada, making it a great choice for app users. However, the desktop site isn’t the most user-friendly, and the selection of premade combos is somewhat limited. For desktop betting, Betway is a better alternative.
19+. T&C Apply. Play Responsibly. Offers not available in Ontario. Must opt in via the “My Offers” page within 7 days of registration. The minimum qualifying stake is $25, on any sporting event, with combined odds of at least 1.8. You have 24 hours after making your deposit to place the bet, which must settle within 7 days.

Alberta Bonuses and Promotions
Sign-up bonuses and promotions are a great way for bettors to explore new sportsbooks while getting extra value for their wagers. Many bettors use these offers to stretch their dollar and place risk-free bets. However, upcoming regulations in Alberta will likely restrict our ability, and that of other sources, to showcase these bonuses and promotions.
Before these changes take effect, we want to highlight the best available bonuses in Canada.

Best Deposit Bonus - Betway
🔐 Wagering Requirements: 10x
💯 Minimum Odds: 1.75 (-133)
⏰ Validity Period: 7 days
💵 Minimum Deposit: $10
How Betway’s betting offer works
Betway's offer lets you secure a 100% match to your initial deposit, up to $300. Meaning the max deposit that will be matched is $150. Depending on the initial deposit amount, new users will have to bet 10 times that amount in order to withdraw the matched bonus. To make this a little more clear, should you deposit the max bonus amount of $150, you would need to wager a total of $1,500 in order to withdraw Betway's $150 match.
The 10x wagering requirement is reachable for most bettors, especially compared to other deposit bonuses like Stake requiring a wagering requirement of 40x. Regardless of your intention to reach the requirement, having $150 to place bets at no cost to you is a great way to start experiencing what Betway's sportbook has to offer.

Best Free Bet - Betiton
🔐 Wagering Requirements: No requirements
💯 Minimum Odds: 1.80
⏰ Validity Period: 14 days
💵 Minimum Deposit: $15
How Betiton’s free bet offer works
Betiton offers a welcome offer type that’s become poplar in the UK, but remains pretty rare in Canada. With this offer, you need to place a $15 bet on odds of 1.80 within the first 14 days of signing up in order to unlock a $10 free bet.
The $10 free bet is not withdrawable, but any and all winnings generated from the free bet can be withdrawn. The reason this offer appears lower down the list is because it simply is not as valuable as other offers found further up.
This offer is for new customers only and is available once per household. Max. Free Bet amount $10. Minimum wagering on sport to activate the Free Bet is $15. Void/cancelled or cashed out bets do not count towards wagering to activate the free bet.

Best Welcome Package - Neo.Bet
🔐 Wagering Requirements: 5x
💯 Minimum Odds: 1.5
⏰ Validity Period: 100 days
💵 Minimum Deposit: $10
How NEO.bet’s Welcome Package works
NEO.bet’s welcome package works much like most other deposit bonuses, the only key difference being that your deposit bonus is split up over three deposits. On the first deposit, you’ll receive a juicy 100% up to $200 bonus, and over the next two deposits, you’ll receive 100% up to $100 for each deposit.
To unlock the $400 bonus money, you will need to play through the bonus amount 5 times at odds of at least 1.5 within the first 100 days of being a NEO.bet customer.
Wager the bonus 6x before it becomes withdrawable. Complete the rollover within 60 days. Minimum odds 1.60. T&Cs apply.

Best Free Bet Series - Comeon!
🔐 Wagering Requirements: No requirements
💯 Minimum Odds: 1.80
⏰ Validity Period: 7 days
💵 Minimum Deposit: $20
How Comeon’s Betting Offer works
New Comeon players are granted a solid free bet offer, with free bets that are really easy to unlock. Once you’ve created an account, and made a deposit with this bookmaker, you will need to make a $25 bet on an event that has been given odds of 1.8 (-125). That’s all it takes to unlock four $25 free bets, which added together are where you find the $100 that Comeon mentions.
The catch with this offer is that it expires after 7 days, so once you’ve unlocked your free bets, you’ll need to use them quickly. The other catch is that the free bets themselves are not withdrawable, but the money you win with them, will be withdrawable.
Top Alberta Sportsbook Mobile Apps
With most bettors using mobile devices to place their wagers, some sportsbooks have developed outstanding mobile apps to enhance the experience. Here are our three favorite sportsbook apps that offer seamless betting on the go.

1. NEO.bet Mobile App
NEO.bet offers a seamless and intuitive betting experience on iOS, fully mirroring the desktop platform. The app provides easy navigation, in-depth game statistics, and convenient features like favorite selections, game notifications, and live-chat support. While the interface may feel dense at first, its thoughtful design ensures smooth wagering and quick access to key betting markets.
What sets NEO.bet apart is its strong personalization and control features. Users can customize their experience with favorite teams and leagues, set responsible gaming limits, and take advantage of innovative tools like Player Duels, early payouts, and flexible cashout options. With its combination of usability and advanced betting features, NEO.bet stands out as a top-tier sportsbook app.

2. BetVictor Mobile App
BetVictor’s mobile app delivers a streamlined and user-friendly betting experience, even improving upon the website’s navigation. Placing bets is intuitive, with quick access to bet types, wager entries, and bet slips. The app also ensures seamless usability by keeping key features like betting history, live-chat support, and push notifications within easy reach. Available on both iOS and Android, it allows users to bet on the go with confidence.
The app is highly rated on the Apple App Store (4.7/5) but receives slightly lower scores on Google Play (3.9/5), largely due to frequent automatic logouts that can disrupt betting sessions. However, BetVictor shines with its top-tier bet builder for NBA and soccer, offering extensive customization and unique specials across various sports. If they expand these features to more sports, BetVictor’s app could become one of the best in the industry.

3. Comeon! Mobile App
ComeOn offers a slick, easy to use app, that’s available on the App Store and Google Play Store. If you’re based outside of Ontario, ComeOn provides an impressive selection of different bets, and offers a fantastic level of bet customization. An issue we had with this book, however, is that if you’re based in Ontario, you don’t have the ability to bet on sports. ComeOn only offers casino in Ontario, but what you can access in this province, is a leading casino when it comes to personal jackpot games.

Alberta Betting Laws
With Ontario’s regulated iGaming market thriving, Alberta is set to introduce its own regulations in early 2026. This shift will bring major changes to the province’s sports betting landscape, impacting both bettors and operators.
Our overview breaks down what these changes mean for you, from changes in sportsbook options to potential shifts in odds, promotions, and responsible gaming measures. Stay informed on how Alberta’s evolving market will shape your betting experience.
Current Alberta Betting Laws
Alberta, like Ontario, has a commission in place that regulates activities such as sports betting, the Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis Commission (AGLC). Currently, Alberta falls under a grey market, meaning Albertans can legally join and place wagers on sportsbooks that carry offshore licenses, such as licenses from authorities like the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA). However, these sportsbooks are not regulated by the AGLC and the revenue created by these sportsbooks is not taxed in Alberta.
Current laws only limit the creation of sportsbooks and casinos in Alberta, leading to playalberta.ca being the only online Albertan sportsbook that is legally allowed to operate. Current regulations also limit wagers on its platform to only offer single-game sports betting. This means Albertans using this sportsbook will only be able to place wagers one game at a time.
Preparing For The Future
As of 2024, Alberta is working with the AGLC to create a regulated iGaming market, making it the second province after Ontario to introduce its own online gambling laws. These new regulations are speculated to launch in Q1 of 2026, with operators like Bet365 stating they plan to enter the market.
Once the market is regulated, only licensed operators will be allowed to offer iGaming services in Alberta. This means bettors will need to check if their sportsbook has obtained an AGLC license. While we can't say for sure which operators will apply, since licenses are costly and require meeting strict regulations, it’s likely that sportsbooks already licensed in Ontario (AGCO) will try to enter Alberta as well. You can check our page covering legal betting sites in Ontario to get an idea of which sportsbook are likely to enter the Albertan iGaming market.
What Do New Regulations Mean For Bettors In Alberta?
With the current regulatory landscape changing, what does it mean for those residing in Alberta? Here's how these new regulations will affect Alberta and, more importantly, you.
- Better Odds
Another key part of the new regulations is ensuring iGaming operators offer fair odds to bettors. This change benefits Albertans by improving the value of their bets. As more operators obtain licenses, increased competition should also lead to better odds and promotions, making the betting experience even more rewarding.
- Increased Safety
The new regulatory standards in Alberta will provide an added layer of safety for bettors. These regulations ensure that licensed iGaming operators follow strict security measures to protect your personal and financial information. Once an operator obtains a license, you can trust that it meets Alberta’s safety standards, giving you peace of mind while betting.
- Change in Available Betting Sites
Under the new regulations, iGaming operators will need a license to legally operate in Alberta. This means they must meet regulatory standards and cover the high costs of obtaining a license. As a result, some offshore betting sites may become temporarily unavailable until they comply with these requirements. Bettors should be aware that their preferred sportsbook might no longer be accessible once the new rules take effect.
- Responsible Gambling Initiatives
Lastly, new regulatory standards will force iGaming operators to offer better responsible gambling services. Ensuring your betting habits remain healthy and giving you the tools to manage your spending. Advertisement and marketing from iGaming operators will also be limited to reduce the presence of celebrities and athletes, as well as preventing the mentioning of bonuses and promotions. This initiative is in place to reduce predatory marketing behavior.
- Increased Tax Revenue
Currently, offshore sportsbooks don't have to file any taxes on revenue earned in Alberta. With these new regulations, Alberta is expected to grow their revenue from iGaming operators by as much as 73%. In Ontario, the launch of new regulations resulted in a net revenue of 1.43B for the province. Although Alberta is only 1/3rd the size of Ontario, experts expect the revenue earned to be close to 476 million dollars. This will result in economic growth for Alberta and allow the province to offer even more services for its residents.

Betting Sites We Predict Will Acquire A License In Alberta
We've done some digging and have created a list of the most likely betting sites to become available in Alberta following the regulations that will take place. Since Ontario has already set strict regulations for their operators, we believe betting sites that have acquired a license to operate in Ontario will likely follow-suit in acquiring a license in Alberta. In addition, certain operators like Bet365 have announced they plan on acquiring a license as well, giving us confidence in certain operators.
