Have you ever watched The £100K Drop (formerly The Million Pound Drop) on television and fancied your chances at winning a big prize if you gave it a go yourself?

Well, with Paddy Power - the bookie best known for its cheeky marketing and top-tier betting offers - you can do just that, but by predicting sporting outcomes rather than answering quiz questions.

The game is called Paddy Power Beat the Drop - and it gives you the chance to win £5,000 with one free game entry per day.

How Do You Play Beat the Drop?

Anyone who has watched the TV show on Channel 4 will know that the concept is very straightforward and enjoyable, but even if you have never seen The £100k Drop, there is no steep learning curve at all.

In Paddy Power's free version of the game, you start with £5,000, and you have to answer 15 questions - all of which are similar to the betting markets you would see on the sportsbook.

Depending on how confident you are, you can allocate as much money as you want to each answer, and the sum left in the pot at the end of the 15 questions is yours to keep.

You can find Beat the Drop split amounts in the 'Strategy' section further down this page 😇

You remain alive in the game until the moment an outcome occurs leaving you with no money left to allocate to the next answer

To answer your first question, simply select one of the questions (markets) before it closes, and split your £5,000 pot as you please using the slider.

You can go all-in on one of the two answers, or you can have some of it on each of them so that you are guaranteed to move on to the next phase albeit possibly with a small amount of money.

📢GOOD TO KNOW: You can return to your selection and adjust the split as many times as you want, right up until the event in question gets underway.

Navigate Through Each Round

There are plenty of rounds to get through before you see any returns, and you have 14 days from the moment you answered your last question to complete your game.

You may choose to go all-in on some questions and perhaps split the pot on others - it's up to you how you want to go about it.

Questions are typically based on actual betting markets (often football or horse racing bets) and the answers are close to 50/50 in terms of the likelihood of each outcome.

If you manage to get to the end of the 15 questions and you still have some money in your pot, that cash is yours to keep!

5
Try Again When Your Game Ends

With Paddy Power Beat the Drop, you are eligible for one free game per day, so whenever you lose all of your pot, you won't have to wait long to give it another go.

If you lose on the same day that you start a new free game, then the following day will be your next opportunity to play.

When you start a new game, you will begin with £5,000 again, and go back to question 1 of 15. It will be a brand new set of questions based on whatever the upcoming sporting events are.

Paddy Power Beat the Drop Strategy

Your preferred Paddy Power Beat the Drop strategy will depend on how confident you are in each selection.

If you have strong sports knowledge and believe your picks have a good chance of winning, then you might go all-in on most questions.

However, the more cautious players among you might split the pot throughout the game and try to come away with something at the end even if it isn't a huge payout.

Going All In

By going all in, especially in the early rounds, you leave no margin for error but if you can advance through a number of questions, then it leaves you in a great position for the later rounds.

Of course, it is highly unlikely that you are going to get 15 consecutive 50/50 questions correct, but as this is a free game, there is nothing to lose by going all-in early and then perhaps shifting to a pot split strategy when you move closer to the finishing line.

Since Paddy Power allows you to have free entries for this, I see no reason not to go all-in at least for the first half of the game.

Of course, it's a big ask to go all the way without getting anything wrong, but the only way you are going to secure a big payout here is by going aggressive at some point - and it makes sense to do that early on.

Then, you have flexibility later on to hedge your bets and play it safer where necessary.

Splitting the Pot

Playing it safe and leaving some money on one side even if you are heavier on the other side is perhaps the smarter way to play it down the stretch, but if you play it too cautious from the get-go, you won't have much to play with when it matters.

Even if you are not sure which answer to go for on a particular question, or any of the questions on a particular day, you can simply wait for a question that you do like, as long as 14 days don't elapse from the time you answered your last question.

However, going all-in on every single question is probably too aggressive, and involves unnecessary risk in the latter stages of the game.

Hedging Using the Sportsbook

Many of the questions on Paddy Power Beat the Drop will be available as standalone betting markets on the sportsbook, so if you do reach the late rounds, then you can hedge using the regular sportsbook rather than splitting the pot.

This can be a better option if the odds are favourable, or perhaps if you have a free bet to use from the Paddy Power sign up offer or Paddy's Rewards Club.

As you can see, you don't have to get that many questions correct to guarantee yourself at least a few quid in cash when you go all-in during the early rounds! Not bad for a totally free-to-play game.
