SBK Review

SBK is a mobile app-only sportsbook with a lot to offer. Its intuitive design makes for a seamless betting experience and the odds on offer are often some of the best in the market. The cleverly integrated social media-style elements like tips and comments help SBK stand out from the crowd: SBK is a refreshing addition to the UK online sports betting scene.

Why Bet With SBK?

📱Super-slick app with intuitive layout
✅ Solid odds (including SBK Price+)
💬 Innovative integrated social features
💳 Good payment options

First impressions of the SBK sports betting app are very good - as a uniquely mobile app-only operator, SBK has pulled no punches in ensuring that its app is high-quality, responsive, and intuitive.

Trending bets, tips, and live markets are all easily accessible from the home screen.

It’s quite nice to see a bookie with a home screen that isn’t littered with promotions and offers - instead SBK relies on its commitment to provide market-beating odds on as many markets as possible.

SBK Price+ is a ‘best odds guaranteed’ promise where SBK aims to transparently display, to the exact percent, how many of its markets on a particular event offer better prices than the leading competitors. This is refreshing transparency in such a cutthroat, competitive market.

SBK Price 2

With their Price+ promise, SBK aims to match or better odds at many other leading bookmakers.

SBK offers markets on the key sports for UK punters, namely football and horse racing, while other popular sports like tennis, golf, and american sports are also afforded ample coverage.

SBK really stands out from the crowd for its fantastic politics betting options.

Aside from sports, politics betting is an area that SBK really excels in, with an impressive depth of markets available on all manner of political events in the UK and worldwide.

Ryan
Ryan

Slick integration of social elements like being able to follow tipsters’ activities and react to other user’s bets and wins is another feature that is rather unique to SBK and fits nicely into the mobile-first theme.

Ryan (My Betting Sites reviewer)

SBK offers a good variety of payment options, including e-wallets like Neteller and Skrill.

Customer service at SBK is also top-notch - the live chat function is easy to find on the app and agents are responsive and helpful. An extensive help centre is also available both on mobile and, helpfully, also on desktop browsers.

SBK's high limits and welcoming attitude toward winning players are two more ticks in the 'what a great little bookie this is' column - especially for those more experienced punters who fancy they have an edge.

What SBK Could Improve
  • No live streaming
  • Not the best for horse racing
  • App-only format may put some off

SBK is a relatively recent yet already strong entry into the UK online sports betting scene. There are, however, still some areas where the offering could be improved.

First up is live streaming. This has increasingly become a key carrot to dangle in front of prospective punters as many now relish the opportunity to wager in-play and live streaming of events makes that style of betting infinitely more enjoyable. It is a shame, therefore, that SBK doesn’t currently offer any live streaming.

For UK punters, the top two sports for betting on are football and horse racing. SBK does a great job catering for footy punters with a vast array of events and markets, but its horse racing offering doesn’t quite reach the same heights. Yes, racecards for the daily UK and Irish fixtures are there, as are a good selection of international races, but the markets available are limited to racecard and place, which is considerably less variety than is offered by other top bookies.

Finally, while it is a key positive differentiator for many, the fact that SBK is mobile app-only might equally discourage other punters who prefer to wager on desktop or who prefer to use a mobile browser instead of downloading yet another app.

Do I Need an SBK Promo Code to Claim the Welcome Offer?

No promo code required! Just click here and follow the steps.

Is SBK the Smarkets Sportsbook?

Yes. Smarkets was founded in 2008 as a peer-to-peer betting platform (a betting exchange) where users can take and make bets on various sports, political, and other markets. Just like other leading exchanges like Betfair, Smarkets has now launched a sportsbook. The Smarkets sportsbook is operated under the SBK brand.

Is the SBK Sportsbook Mobile-only?

Yes - In order to access the SBK odds you’ll need to download the SBK mobile app. This is a fresh approach that sets SBK apart from competitors in the market who almost all continue to maintain a fully-featured desktop site. The SBK app is slick and has plenty of interesting features that make it worth trying.

What is the Best SBK Sportsbook Promo Code?

At My Betting Sites, we haven’t conducted an exhaustive analysis of all the SBK promo codes that you can find on the web for one very simple reason: You don’t need a bonus code to claim the SBK £30 free bets offer. Just click here and follow the instructions to set your account up and you’ll automatically qualify for the offer.

SBK Betting

Given that the SBK sportsbook is mobile app-only, betting might feel a little different to begin with when compared with the experience on other more traditional sportsbook options available for UK punters. However, SBK has clearly put a lot of effort into the user experience and it's easy to navigate around the app to find the markets and bets you’re looking for.

SBK Football

Football markets are a cornerstone of any top UK bookie’s offering and just because SBK is a shiny new app-only sportsbook doesn’t make that any different!

Ryan
Ryan

A key feature for football punters is SBK’s Price+ promise: At least 50% of the prices offered on all the football matches checked while researching for this review were, according to SBK, better than the prices offered by leading competitors.

Ryan (My Betting Sites reviewer)

SBK football

SBK regularly offers better football odds than many competitors.

In terms of the variety of markets available, all of the usual suspects are there, from match odds to goal lines and handicaps and first goalscorer. It’s also great to see corner and card markets.

Overall, SBK doesn’t offer quite the same array of markets as some other operators but, as you can see from the above, all of the key football betting opportunities are comprehensively covered.

Pre-match markets are open on the vast majority of the main professional football leagues across the UK, Europe, and worldwide.

There’s also a good selection of outright markets covering the top domestic and international competitions.

SBK Esports

SBK esports

Esports markets are available both pre-match and in-play.

Esports is a rapidly growing sector in sports betting and it shows no signs of slowing down. There are plenty of boutique esports bookies and a decent chunk of the top online sportsbooks in the UK now offer great esports markets, too.

Esports betting on SBK is not the absolute best in the market, but it’s pretty good nonetheless.

Punters can bet on the top CS:GO and LOL matchups on SBK.

Spreads and totals markets are available along with winner and match winner, which will cater to the needs of most esports punters.

SBK would benefit from adding a few more different titles to their esports offering, such as DOTA2 and/or sports-based games. No doubt they’ll be looking to do so in the future as esports continues to hoover up market share.

SBK Racing

Horse racing is another key sport for UK punters and it’s one of the most popular sports on Smarkets, too: SBK’s relationship with its big brother Smarkets helps it deliver great horse racing odds on the SBK sportsbook.

The daily UK & Irish racing fixtures are all well covered as expected, and there’s also a decent smattering of international races open for betting from the likes of Australia and Japan, too.

SBK horse racing

Racing punters at SBK can bet on the daily UK and Irish fixtures plus a selection of international races.

The betting options are, however, somewhat spartan when compared to the top horse racing bookies like Ladbrokes. The available markets on most races are restricted to win and place.

It also can’t be ignored that there is no live streaming available. If you’re the sort of horse racing punter that, for example, likes to enter the market late based on how horses are behaving when they line up in the stalls, or you simply want to watch the action once you’ve wagered, then a bookie like Bet365 is a better bet.

Smarkets Exchange

It would be remiss of us to write an entire review of SBK without at least touching quickly on it’s big brother, Smarkets. Smarkets is a betting exchange, where people can bet against other punters, rather than against a bookmaker as with a traditional sportsbook.

For example, one bettor might fancy Team A to beat Team B at the price of 1.6 (3/5). If another punter thinks Team A are too short at 1.6, they can offer to ‘lay’ that bet (i.e. take the other side). Exchanges make money by taking a small commission from profits.

Smarkets launched its peer-to-peer betting exchange back in 2008 and has now leveraged on its ongoing success to launch its sportsbook product - SBK. This mirrors the path taken by Betfair - the world’s leading betting exchange - which launched a sportsbook back in 2012.

SBK Politics

Sports is not the only area that SBK excels in. Following on from Smarkets’ strong reputation for accurate pricing of major political events such as general elections, SBK offers a great selection of politics markets and other specials.

SBK politics US Presidential Election 2024

SBK's politics markets are second-to-none.

If, for example, you fancy Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to deliver a government of the people’s elbow, by the people’s elbow, and for the people’s elbow, then SBK is the place to back him in the 2024 US presidential election.

SBK’s depth of political markets far exceeds any other top bookie.

In the UK alone, SBK offers markets on secretaries of state to remain in their post, electoral commission outcomes, party polling averages, mayoral elections, party leaders, independence referendums, and more!

SBK App

SBK is, simply put, all about the app. It’s rather unique in the UK market in the sense that it’s a mobile app-only sports betting platform. This shouldn’t be too much of a shock to anyone in this day and age - after all, there are already app-only banks, social media platforms, and much more.

If you're a mobile app-only bookie, you better make it a great mobile app! Fortunately, SBK have done just that.

The app looks great, it’s easy to navigate between and within markets, and everything from placing a bet to managing your account details is intuitive.

SBK iOS

SBK i OS app store

SBK is available for download for iOS via the App Store.

SBK is available to download for iOS devices via the Apple App Store.

It’s a user-friendly pocket punting product with a slick design that will fit right in next to all your other trendy Apple apps.

SBK Android

Unlike some other online sportsbooks in the UK market, SBK is available to download from the official Google Play Store. Nice. That’s a mark of both quality and trust, and it also saves a bit of hassle trying to find a legitimate way to download the .apk and change permissions on your device and bla, bla, bla.

Smarkets App

SBK’s exchange betting big brother Smarkets also has a dedicated mobile app available for both iOS and Android, so if you’re looking for the sportsbook product, make sure you don’t mix them up and that you’re definitely downloading SBK!

SBK Betting Offers & Features

SBK is an innovative foray into the very competitive UK online betting market. There are plenty of features that SBK brings to the table that help it stand out from the rest of the crowd.

SBK Auto Acca

There’s been a big push among UK online bookies toward tools like Bet Builders over recent years. While SBK doesn’t have a specific bet builder product per se - it’s very easy to combine markets in your betslip to essentially create the same sort of tailored multiple.

SBK auto acca

SBK's auto acca is nice tool for helping punters pick acca selections.

SBK’s Auto Acca feature takes a different spin on a similar concept. Click on the auto acca option and SBK will pre-populate a multiple bet for you, incorporating markets from across different markets and sports.

This is a fun inclusion that really fits into the app-first feel, and may help give you some inspiration for bets when you’re not 100% sure what markets are available.

SBK Tips

Tips are another feature that fit neatly with the social focus of SBK as an app-only product.

SBK Tips Comment and React

The ability to follow and react to tips adds a little extra to the SBK experience.

You can follow and compete against friends or top tipsters and post reactions and comments on their picks.

Plenty of other entrepreneurs have tried and failed to muscle in to the superactive sports social media space next to the likes of Twitter and Instagram. By incorporating the social media elements as an ancillary to the main betting product, SBK might have hit the sweet spot.

SBK Live Chat

SBK's 24/7 live chat assistance is easily found in the ‘account’ section of the app. This makes a change from some bookies who sneakily conceal the live chat tool behind layers of pages along the lines of “Are you sure this question can’t be answered by looking in our FAQ section?”.

Anyway, My Betting Sites is pleased to report that SBK’s live chat does what it says on the tin - it provides prompt and helpful responses to questions about all and sundry (provided it’s relevant to betting on SBK, of course).

Worth Knowing:

It’s useful to know that, while the SBK sportsbook is mobile app-only, the SBK help centre can be accessed via your desktop browser.

Punters can also get in touch with SBK via email, phone, or Twitter. Lovely job.

SBK Cash Out

In line with practically all other top online UK sportsbooks these days, SBK offers a decent cash-out function.

Cash-out offers are regularly updated in-play as the odds change and, given SBK’s close tie-up with the Smarkets exchange, you can be fairly sure you’re getting a reasonable cash-out offer here.

SBK Live Streaming

Live streaming is one area that SBK unfortunately doesn't match some of the other UK bookies on. It’s hard to provide any in-depth insight into the live streaming on offer at SBK as, simply put, there is none.

SBK Existing Customer Offers

The SBK set-up is slightly different to more traditional online bookmakers. One reason for this is that the lack of screen real estate on a mobile-only app tends to make displaying big offers and betting promotions a little more difficult.

SBK Price Samsung

Price+ is SBK's is one of SBK's key features.

Instead, SBK focuses its existing customer retention energies on really driving home their competitive advantages, one main one being their ability to offer better odds than many other sportsbooks given that they’re so closely tied to the Smarkets exchange.

Look out for the SBK Price+ green triangle, which indicates that the SBK odds are the best in the market.

SBK Price+ is a ‘best odds guaranteed’ offer of sorts. SBK aims to outperform top bookies like Bet365, SkyBet, Ladbrokes, William Hill, and Unibet on as many markets as possible, across all sports.

SBK Payment Methods

SBK offers UK punters a great selection of different payment methods. For a relatively new entrant to the market, this is a real feather in the SBK cap. Currently accepted deposit methods are:

  • Open Banking
  • Visa debit
  • Solo/Maestro
  • MasterCard/Eurocard
  • Neteller
  • Skrill
  • Trustly
  • PayPal

Note: Minimum deposit amount for all payment methods is £10 with the exception of PayPal (£20).

SBK Withdrawal Time

You’ve just made an absolute killing on the 16.45 at Sedgefield, or your 4312/1 acca has come in and you want to withdraw your cash so you can treat yourself to something nice.

How long will your money take to land in your bank account? Estimated current SBK withdrawal times are as follows:

  • Open Banking: 12 hours
  • Visa debit: 1-6 business days
  • Solo/Maestro: 1-6 business days
  • MasterCard/Eurocard: 1-6 business days
  • Neteller: 1-2 business days
  • Skrill: 1-2 business days
  • Bank Transfer: 5-10 business days
  • Trustly: 1-2 business days
  • PayPal: 1-2 business days
