The classic BLT of UK betting: fractional odds. Every British punter has seen them, and the easiest way to explain is this — the first number shows how much you could win, the second number shows how much you need to stake.

• Example: Odds of 5/1 eans for every £1 you bet, you'll win £5 if you're right. For the big guns, that means a £100 bet returns a whopping £500

More regularly seen across Europe and Australia, decimal odds are straightforward. Simply multiple your stake by the decimal to see your total return.

• Example: If you bet £10 on odds of 2.50, you'll get £25 back (£15 profit + your £10 stake)

💡 Decimal odds are simple to read and require little mental mathematics once you understand the basics.

Mostly seen in the US (hence the name). Positive numbers show how much profit you'd make on a £1o0 stake, negative numbers show how much you need to stake to win £100.

• Example: Odds of +150 means a £100 bet wins £150 profit. Odds of -200 means you need to bet £200 to win £100

💡 A bit more tricky to get to grips with initially, but it quickly begins to make sense with some practice.

Not a bet format per se, but it's super handy to know. It tells you the chance of something happening according to the odds.

• Example: Odds of 2/1 (3.0) mean an implied probability of 33.3% - roughly a one-in-three chance of winning.
