The Newly Licensed Bookies You Should Know About
Fitzbet
The Sister Brand of Fitzwilliam Sports
The newest brand to enter the UK & Irish betting markets is the online sports betting arm of Fitzwilliam Sports, the Dublin-based boutique bookmaker partly owned by prominent Irish racehorse owner, Paul Byrne.
Fitzwilliam Sports has a loyal following among members, thanks to its high-end service built on trust and reliability. Customer service is a top priority at Fitzwilliams, so much so that membership is capped to ensure each customer receives the attention they deserve!
While Fitzbet won’t be capping the number of new online betting accounts(!), new customers should know they’re likely to benefit from a level of service not experienced before. The launch of Fitzbet is certainly one of the most exciting we’ve had in Ireland for some time.
DragonBet

"The Bookmaker of Wales"
Those of a certain age will remember John Lovell Racing, with the Welshman known as a pioneer in horse race betting and the first to introduce computerised betting to British racecourses. The company was a mainstay of racecourses for nearly 50 years and, at its peak, operated just over a dozen betting shops.
Today, all of that experience and expertise is alive and kicking on Dragonbet.com, built to become the online bookmaker of Wales with a focus on Welsh sports events and teams.
DragonBet has been active in the UK since 2022, but only secured its sportsbook license in Ireland in January 2026.
Bar 1 Betting

Bar One Racing becomes Bar 1 Betting
The Dundalk-based company Bar One Racing, one of Ireland’s best-known independent bookmakers, has rebranded to Bar 1 Betting.
The rebrand marks a new era for the company, which began as a small, local bookmaker in 1992, founded by CEO Barney O’Hare, and is widely recognised as one of the leading Irish bookies.
Since its founding, the company has prided itself on great customer service and clear communication, not only to welcome new members but also to keep them happy long term. Speaking of which…
The Bookies Offering Something Fresh
It's one thing for betting companies to attract new customers, but it's another thing to keep them sweet. However, given the competitive market we have in Ireland, it’s almost essential that bookies find ways to retain the interest of existing members.
How they do it varies from bookmaker to bookmaker. But in most cases, it's through free-to-play games, new features or new promotions.
Among the latest brands to make additions to their offerings include:
Betfred with its free-to-play predictor game, Goal Builder+. Existing customers can win a share of the weekly €10k jackpot, along with free bets, by correctly predicting five details of the first goal scored in Betfred’s selected Premier League match.
Sky Bet with its new feature, Squad Bet. Available on most (but not all) football matches, members can assemble several players from both teams and select an outcome for them to achieve together. If they do, you win your bet.
Ladbrokes & Coral with their new horse racing bet builders. The product allows punters to combine multiple selections from the same race into one customised bet. The two Entain brands have joined the likes of William Hill & bet365 in rolling out a feature that allows punters to add several legs in one bet, as is commonplace with football betting.

The Bookmakers That Offer a New Way of Doing Things
There are betting companies that have demonstrated there’s more than one way to skin a cat, so to speak, offering a different approach to conventional online sportsbooks and veering away from the focus on market variety and generous welcome bonuses to offer something unique.
Kwiff is a perfect example of such. Since its launch back in 2015, the UK-based operator has centred its offering on the element of surprise, boosting user engagement through Supercharged Odds (a feature that randomly increases odds after a bet has been placed) and Surprise Bets (automatically generated bets awarded at an unspecified time).
The algorithmic automation used by Kwiff today is a concept that had never been heard of or used in the industry previously. But by offering something original, Kwiff has successfully established itself in a crowded market and even inspired other companies.
For example, the Lucky Dip feature you now find on BetVictor and talkSPORT Bet also adds a similar random and exciting element to the online sports betting experience for users of those brands.
The Betting Companies Stepping into the Future
Just like VAR, Artificial Intelligence is here to stay. However, unlike VAR, AI is only set to get better!
Having already altered many aspects of our daily lives, AI will inevitably play a huge role in how we bet in the future, too. And it’s something some betting companies are already embracing...
Netbet - Blending AI and Betting
Available in both the UK and Ireland, Netbet launched the industry’s first AI-powered betting assistant, ‘Bet AI’, in 2024, a tool designed to engage users and provide a seamless, intuitive betting experience.
Those using the tool can check betting rules, information about upcoming events, view betting odds and sports data and even get assistance with placing a sports wager.
Most impressively, perhaps, the Bet AI Assistant promotes responsible gambling by recognising signs of distress. In such cases, the user is provided with a link to the contact page so they can find advice or speak to a (human) customer assistant.

Midnite - “We’re not your Grandad’s Bookie”
When visiting Midnite’s sportsbook for the first time, you get the feeling this isn’t just a regular betting company. The website is slick, simple and vibrant, and feels built for a younger audience.
Those first impressions aren’t wrong. Midnite sees itself leading the next generation of online betting sites for millennials and Gen Z football fans, as its marketing slogan, “We’re not your Grandad’s Bookie, confirms.
Their message also plays on the idea that there are alternatives to the list of legacy bookmakers that still dominate the UK & Irish betting markets.
Midnite is widely recognised as one of the industry’s fastest-growing brands, with sponsorship deals with EFL Championship clubs Sheffield United and Southampton, as well as partnership agreements in snooker for two of the sport’s most prestigious events, further boosting the brand’s presence and popularity.

Our Approach to Covering Betting Sites in Ireland
As mentioned, we keep track of everything happening in the Irish betting market and showcase Ireland’s top online betting sites doing so.
However, we don’t just highlight any old betting company.
We only recommend bookies that comply with current Irish gambling regulations and have a license to operate in Ireland from either the Revenue Commissioners or the newly established Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI).
Every betting site we highlight is listed on this Register of Licensed Remote Bookmaking Operations in Ireland and is considered a safe option for Irish residents betting online.
If you wonder why certain betting sites are omitted from our recommendations, it’s because they’re not legally permitted to operate in Ireland. Being licensed is important for many reasons, but in the main, licensed betting sites protect your money, ensure fair play and player protection and provide responsible gambling tools to help prevent and/or combat gambling addiction.
How We Decide Which Betting Sites to Feature
In addition to being licensed, we also consider other attributes of an online bookmaker. These are among the key areas we look at:
Some bookies cover Irish sports and events better than others, none more so than BOYLE Sports for Gaelic Sports and Bar One Racing for League of Ireland matches. We monitor the coverage of Hurling, Gaelic Football and the Irish Premier Division on all betting sites to see how well each sportsbook is optimised for Irish sports bettors.
We believe a fully rounded sports betting site takes care of members beyond claiming the welcome bonus. The top bookies offer free bets, money back specials, acca boosts, loyalty programs and free-to-play games all year round, not just for big events.
Pretty much every bookie in Ireland offers cash-out, a bet builder and racing live streams. But to which level are these features offered?
Companies including Bet365, Betway and Betfred, for instance, offer partial cash out and auto cash out, giving you even more control over your bet.
Meanwhile, there are a handful of bookies with horse racing bet builders, allowing you to combine several markets into one price, just as has been the case with football matches for some time. And, as mentioned, it's almost a given that a betting site has live streams for racing. But what other sports/leagues/competitions can you watch?
In addition, we highlight new features that increase engagement. For instance, Sky Bet's newest feature, Squad Bet, allows you to bet on an outcome achieved by a squad of players selected from two teams participating in the same football match.
Nobody has time for a website that is slow to load or poorly laid out. Nor does anybody have the patience for a convoluted sign-up process. Hence, we look at how easy a site is to navigate and identify the bookies that prioritise a seamless betting experience from start to finish.
How you can deposit and withdraw money - and the speed at which you can do both - is a factor we look at closely.
The availability of debit cards, e-wallets (PayPal, Skrill, Neteller) and mobile payment methods (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Revolut) is essential to meet the needs of all customers in Ireland. Within this, we also pay attention to betting sites that accept low deposits and test how quickly bookies credit winnings.
It’s reassuring to know there’s a good level of support to rely on if there's ever an issue. We check whether a bookmaker has Live Chat and, if so, when it's available (is it 24/7 or only during the day?). We also consider the availability of other options, such as phone and email, and how friendly and responsive the support is.
