CFL Most Outstanding Player Odds

Reaching the midway point of the CFL season, a few players are beginning to separate themselves as leading candidates for the Most Outstanding Player award.

Betting sites in Canada, including Bet365, currently have Davis Alexander as the clear favourite. Alexander is priced at -175, giving him an implied probability of 63.6% and putting him well ahead of the rest of the field.

Tyson Philpot (13.3%), Cody Fajardo (11.8%) and Trevor Harris (9.1%) stand among the leading challengers, although the shift in odds suggest the gap between these players and Alexander only continues to grow.

Davis Alexander has not only been producing the numbers that explain his current Most Outstanding Player odds, with 3,140 passing yards and 18 touchdowns across nine games, but has also converted that production into wins, leading Montreal to an 8–1 record this season.

Week 2 saw Alexander set a career high against Toronto with 441 passing yards, and the big performances have continued. He later threw for 402 yards against Calgary before recording another 420-yard game against Ottawa.

Alexander is also boasting one of the CFL’s best completion rates, completing 219 of 313 attempts for 69.9%. His efficiency has been further highlighted by setting the CFL record for most consecutive pass attempts without an interception, of which he has only thrown 2 so far this season.

With nine games still to play, Alexander is on pace to challenge some of the best quarterback seasons in CFL history, putting his production alongside names such as Doug Flutie, Kent Austin and Anthony Calvillo. At his current pace, he could potentially finish with the most passing yards in a CFL season in more than 22 years.

With Montreal suffering just one loss so far and Alexander continuing to post elite numbers, it makes sense why he has separated himself from the rest of the CFL in the Most Outstanding Player race.

Tyson Philpot is another Montreal Alouette player considered for the Most Outstanding Player award. He has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of Montreal's passing offense this season, putting up numbers that justifies his spot as Davis Alexander's closest challenger.

Through nine games, Philpot has recorded 74 receptions for 1,154 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, already surpassing his previous career high of 804 receiving yards from last season. His production this year has made him one of the most dangerous receivers in the CFL and a major reason Montreal has built their 8–1 record.

Philpot, just like Alexander, has  broken CFL records this season. He has become the fastest Canadian receiver in league history to reach 1,000 receiving yards, reaching the milestone in only eight games after recording 184 yards against Ottawa.

Philpot has also been a major factor in the Alouette's scoring, as seen in his recent game against Edmonton. Philpot caught 10 passes for 131 yards and three touchdowns, bringing his total season receiving scores to seven.

With half of the season still remaining, Philpot is already approaching territory rarely reached by a Canadian receiver. Maintaining his current pace would put him above 2,000 receiving yards, giving him an opportunity to finish 2026 with one of the most productive receiving seasons in recent CFL history.

Although Philpot’s performance this season gives him a strong case for the award, competing alongside Alexander makes it difficult for his individual impact to stand out. With much of Philpot’s production coming through passes from the current MOP favourite, the two players’ success is closely connected.

Cody Fajardo Odds For Most Outstanding Player

Cody Fajardo is another quarterback playing his way into the Most Outstanding Player conversation, providing one of the strongest stretches of quarterback play in the CFL during the first half of the season.

Fajardo has been particularly impressive since the beginning of July. Putting up numbers that eventually earned him recognition as one of the CFL’s Players of the Month for July.

Although, his best performance came against Saskatchewan in Week 8. Fajardo passed for a career high 510 yards and four touchdowns, while finishing without an interception and recording a perfect 158.3 passer efficiency rating.

The week 8 performance also placed Fajardo into elite company. He became the fourth quarterback in CFL history to record at least 500 passing yards and four touchdowns without throwing an interception in the same game.

His ability to produce big performances has helped keep him among the leading MOP candidates, particularly as Edmonton continues to rely heavily on its passing offence.

However, unlike Alexander, Fajardo does not have the benefit of leading the CFL’s most dominant team, making it more difficult for his individual production to separate him from the current favourite.

With Alexander producing both stronger production, with one fewer game logged, and a better team record, Fajardo still has more ground to make up. Although, with half the season left to play, there's still a decent enough possibility that the he can build a strong enough argument to place him ahead.
