San Francisco 49ers Lead NFL Best Regular Season Record Odds
NFL Best Regular Season Record Odds
As we approach the midway mark of the regular season, a handful of teams are truly standing out this season as others are working to still figure out how to answer weaknesses within their roster.
Popular betting sites in Canada, like Bet365, have priced the San Francisco 49ers as the most likely team to finish with the best regular season record this year, at +150, and for good reason.
The 49ers are one of three remaining teams to remain undefeated thus far in the season, winning against strong franchises like the Rams, Commanders, and last year's champs, the Seahawks.
Other teams high up in the odds for best regular season are the Chiefs at +350, the Bills at +425, and the Vikings at +550.
49ers Best Regular Season Record Odds
The San Francisco 49ers have been one of the more impressive teams through the opening six weeks, with a 6-0 record under head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Their success has mainly come from their strong offense with Brock Purdy at the helm and Christian McCaffrey continuing to dominate the running game. The defense has also consistently stepped up in important moments, currently sitting 5th in the defensive rankings. Their win against strong teams like the Rams and the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks have also played a big part in their current expectations.
However, injuries are becoming a concern for San Francisco, especially following Mike Evans' recent Achilles injury against the Commanders on Monday. Evans has been one of the better receiving options this season, and his absence was immediately noticeable as the 49ers' offense struggled in the second half of the game.
Looking ahead, the 49ers have a manageable immediate schedule ahead of them, with the Falcons, Raiders, and Cowboys coming up. However, their schedule becomes a bit more challenging past those games. The Vikings in Week 11, Chiefs in Week 16, and Eagles in Week 17 could all play a big part in whether or not they can stay ahead for the best regular season record.
Chiefs and Vikings Are The Closest Competitors
The Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings are the only two other teams that have undefeated records so far this season, both sitting at 5-0.
Kansas City is currently the second favourite in Bet365's odds at +350. Despite concerns surrounding his recovery from last season, Patrick Mahomes has returned to form passing for 1,300 yards and 9 TDs this season. The Chiefs are also fortunate to have running back Kenneth Walker III as one of the league's most productive running backs.
The Chiefs' defense has also held up nicely, most recently holding the Chargers to just six points in Week 6 and standing at 8th place in defensive rankings. However, injuries to the offensive line have raised concerns as their upcoming schedule matches them up against tougher opponents.
The Minnesota Vikings, meanwhile, have been one of the biggest surprises of the season. The Vikings sit at just +550 despite having the league's second best defense this season, allowing an average of just 12.8 points per game..
Kyler Murray is also seemingly becoming more and more comfortable with the Viking's offense, raising expectations for the team's offensive production with every game.
However, both teams face challenging schedules ahead. The Chiefs still have games against the Seahawks, Bills, and 49ers, while Minnesota will face the Bills, Packers, and 49ers in three consecutive weeks. These matchups could likely place both teams out of reach of the 49ers if they aren't careful.
