SZA Emerges With The Best Odds To Headline Coachella 2027

The Coachella 2027 lineup is expected to be announced in mid-September, leading online prediction markets to speculate over which artists will appear at next year’s festival.

With around a month to go before the announcement, current speculation is centered on SZA, Tame Impala and Dua Lipa as the most likely artists to appear. Other major names receiving attention include Fred again.., Radiohead, Miley Cyrus and Billie Eilish.

In total, more than 40 artists are currently being considered across these markets. However, existing tour schedules can help narrow down the field. Olivia Rodrigo, for example, already has performances scheduled around the same period as Coachella, making her appearance considerably less likely.

SZA is the current favourite to appear at Coachella 2027, with 92% believing she'll be part of the lineup. She also checks many of the boxes expected from a potential headliner.

SZA has already performed at Coachella twice, appearing in 2016 and 2018, but has yet to headline the festival. She also made an appearance alongside Justin Bieber this past year, performing Snooze together in the weekend 2 set.

As of 2026, her popularity has also grown considerably, and she has proven she's capable of drawing stadium sized audiences as seen through her Grand National Tour with Kendrick Lamar in 2025.

Importantly, she also has no conflicting tour dates as of now. Unlike some other artists included in prediction markets, SZA doesn't have any announced concerts that conflict with Coachella’s April 9–11 and April 16–18 dates.

None of this confirms that SZA will be part of the 2027 lineup, but her open schedule in April, previous Coachella appearances, and continued rise in popularity does help explain why current markets favour her chances.

Taylor Swift still has yet to perform at Coachella. Despite two decades of success and massive popularity, she has never played a set at the festival, although she has attended as a guest in the past.

Taylor Swift currently has no announced tour dates that conflict with Coachella's April 9–11 and April 16–18 weekends, removing one of the more obvious obstacles facing several other artists in the market. There is also no confirmed 2027 Taylor Swift tour that could make her unavailable.

However, there are reasons markets remain cautious, as seen in her current odds of 15%. A leading theory being that Coachella offers her relatively little compared with her own stadium tours. She can make substantially more money touring independently, while also retaining complete control over staging, production, set length and the overall fan experience. 

Although, her absence from Coachella for this long makes a 2027 appearance both intriguing and difficult to predict. At 15% in current markets, traders appear to view a first time Taylor Swift performance at Coachella a possibility, but still less likely than appearances from established favourites like SZA, Tame Impala and Dua Lipa.

The two big name artists that appear unlikely to attend Coachella 2027 due to already announced tour dates are Olivia Rodrigo and Gracie Abrams.

Rodrigo has one of the clearest scheduling conflicts among the artists included in current prediction markets. She is scheduled to perform in London on April 9, the opening day of Coachella’s first weekend, followed by additional shows on April 12, 14, 15 and 19. That would leave very little room for her to travel to California and perform for either weekends.

Gracie Abrams has a similar conflict. She is scheduled to perform in Paris on April 9 before returning for another show on April 12. She will then travel to Antwerp for concerts on April 15 and April 16, directly overlapping with the start of Coachella’s second weekend.

The amount of travel required between Europe and California makes both artists less likely to be part of the 2027 lineup. This also explains why markets currently have Rodrigo and Abrams relatively low in their odds of headlining.
