LeBron James Signs With The 76ers
Last week, LeBron James announced that he would be joining the Philadelphia 76ers ahead of the 2026–27 NBA season.
The decision shocked prediction markets, which had largely pointed toward James signing with either the Miami Heat or Cleveland Cavaliers. Even more surprising was the affordability of his contract: a two-year, $8 million deal that includes a player option for the second season.
The move will see LeBron join Joel Embiid and Jaylen Brown, forming a fearsome new Big Three in the Eastern Conference. With Tyrese Maxey and V.J. Edgecombe expected to complete the starting lineup, Philadelphia now appears capable of challenging the defending champion New York Knicks next season.

Betting sites in Canada, including BetVictor, are showing many of the same favourites that entered the 2025–26 season near the top of the market. The Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs currently share the shortest odds, with both teams holding an implied probability of 27.8% to win the championship.
Philadelphia has also emerged as a leading contender following the arrival of LeBron James. The 76ers have steadily climbed to an implied probability of 11.1%, placing them slightly ahead of the defending champion Knicks at 10%.
