Twitter is one good place to start but we also recommend checking out the Betway Insider rugby union blog or 888sport rugby blog for weekly Super Rugby tips and discussions.
Alternatively, you might find that the best tipster that you know lives right inside your own head. If that's the case then move on to step 3.

There are plenty of Super Rugby betting markets out there and each offers a unique betting opportunity. 4️⃣ Compare Super Rugby Odds
Okay, so you have an idea of where you want to place your super rugby bets, and you know a little more about what the experts are saying, now it's time to find the best Super Rugby odds. The value of the odds you find depends on what you think is going to happen in the game.
See the explanation below to get a better understanding of how the different super rugby odds that you find on different bookmakers might impact your bets.
Let's say that you are looking to place a single bet on the outcome of a Super Rugby match between the Crusaders and the Hurricanes. The game is being played on Saturday night at Wellington's windy Westpac Stadium.
You want to place your bet with Bookie A or Bookie B because they both have great sign-up bonuses and live-streaming capabilities.
You have also been reading Super Rugby predictions online and you know that the Crusaders are favourites and that they rely heavily on their first five to score on conversions and penalties.
2 days before the match the odds are as follows:
- Bookie A - Crusaders are paying 1.70 to win, Hurricanes are paying 2.80 to win
- Bookie B - Crusaders are paying 1.80 to win, Hurricanes are paying 2.65 to win
The weather forecast for Saturday nights game is for gale-force winds which means that the Crusaders' first-five is going to have a hard time scoring as many conversions and penalties as he normally does.
It seems like Bookie A has failed to take this into account when pricing their odds and based on your research you think that backing the Hurricanes at 2.80 is a good bet.
You decide to put $20 on the Hurricanes to win with Bookie A and sure enough, the Crusaders first five struggles in the wind and the Hurricanes win the game.
Your research has paid off and your $20 bet returns $56 for $36 profit!
5️⃣ Place your bet!
Armed with expert opinions, a knowledge of what bet you want to place and where you will find the best odds for this bet, you are now ready to place your Super Rugby bet!
Don't forget that you can click on one of the links on this site to claim a sign-up bonus from your chosen bookmaker.
Bet On Rugby Union
Rugby World Cup Betting
The Rugby World Cup is a popular event for punters around the world but probably no more so than in New Zealand. The Rugby World Cup occurs every four years with the last Rugby World Cup being hosted in Japan in 2019 and the next to be hosted in France in 2023.
The Women's Rugby World Cup also occurs once every four years with the next tournament being hosted is in New Zealand in 2022 by the reigning champions.
Rugby World Cup betting is much the same as Super Rugby betting and many markets and rugby odds are available. You can bet on the 2023 Rugby World Cup many years in advance which means that if you want to back the mighty AB's now you can do it.
New Zealand and South Africa each have 3 RWC titles while Australia has 2 and England has 1.
All Blacks Betting
Every year the All Black compete in a number of international rugby competitions and test matches. The All Blacks are the most successful international team in any sport so you might not find great value in backing the AB's to win.
However, rugby betting can take many forms and you can bet on everything from total points scored, to winning margins and try-scorers.
The All Blacks compete in the Rugby Championship (formerly the tri-nations), the Bledisloe Cup and various other international test matches and series' every year.
More Rugby Union Bets
There are plenty of Rugby Union bets for New Zealanders that don't have to include Kiwi teams. From the 6 Nations to the Cook Cup or even the Top 14 in France, you'll find that all of the betting sites that we review offer a variety of rugby union betting options around the world every day.
Super Rugby Aotearoa & Beyond
Super Rugby has undergone numerous changes in its 25-year history, none more recently than in 2020 after the Coronavirus outbreak. See below for an overview of how Super Rugby has changed, and how the competition works today.
1986 - 2011
In 1986 there were 6 teams that competed in the South Pacific Championship or Super Six - one each from Auckland, Canterbury, Wellington, NSW, Queensland and a composite side from Fiji.
The competition expanded in 1993 to the Super 10 when South Africa re-entered the rugby world and it became professional in 1995.
In 1996 SANZAR formed (South African, New Zealand and Australian Rugby) and created the Super 12 which then became the Super 14 in 2006.
2011 - 2015
In 2011, the Super 14 became the Super 15 with 5 teams from each New Zealand, Australia and South Africa.
Each Super 15 team had 8 matches within their home conference and one match against 4 teams from each of the other two conferences.
6 teams were sent to the finals every year.
2016 - 2017
In 2016 SANZAAR (with Argentina added) added three new teams to the Super Rugby competition, a sixth South African team and one from Japan and another from Argentina.
This new, albeit confusing, format had every team play 15 matches, 6 in conference and 9 against other conference teams with the winners of each of the four conferences getting automatic quarter-final appearances and 4 teams getting wildcard spots.
2018 - Present
The Super Rugby championship downsized back to 15 teams with the loss of two South African teams and one Australian team. The three conferences that remained were Super Rugby Aotearoa (5 NZ teams), Super Rugby Australia (4 Australian teams and 1 Japanese), and Super Rugby South Africa (4 South African Teams and 1 Argentinian).
Teams played 8 conference matches (home and away) and 8 out-of-conference matches (4 games against teams from each of the other conferences).
The finals had 8 teams with 5 wildcard spots and the winners of each conference being represented.
Due to 2020's Coronavirus pandemic, the season was shortened with the South African tournament being suspended and Super Rugby Aotearoa and Super Rugby Australia playing their own domestic competitions.
2020 was also the last season for Japan's Super Rugby team, the Sunwolves.
In 2021, Aotearoa and Australia hosted their own domestic competitions before playing a Trans-Tasman series. We also saw the withdrawal of South Africa's 4 teams, and the future of Argentina's Jaguars remains heavily in doubt after they didn't compete.
While we don't know how Super Rugby will look in the future, we're sure Kiwis will continue to bet on rugby!
