What is Ladbrokes 5-A-Side?
Ladbrokes 5-A-Side is a new way to bet on football that was introduced for the 2020-21 season. You pick your formation, players, and stats, and put it all together into a bet builder style wager.
Ladbrokes 5-A-Side has been marketed across TV, radio, print and online.
You can create your teams from players in the English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A, and French Ligue 1.
The tool was launched in partnership with Ladbrokes' suppliers, Banach and Opta.
How does Ladbrokes 5-A-Side work?
If you have ever used a bet builder before, then the Ladbrokes 5-A-Side tool should come naturally to you. It is pretty much exactly the same, only in this instance, only player props are included and you have to include five players.
- Pick your formation
The first part of the process is to select a formation for your Ladbrokes 5-A-Side team. There are six options for this, and there is a mix of defensive lineups where the relevant stats might be tackles cards, and attacking teams where goals and shots are the order of the day.
Ladbrokes 5-A-Side Formations
- Balanced (1-1-2-1): Keeper, Hacker, Baller, Sniper, Finisher
- All Out Attack (1-1-0-3): Keeper, Hacker, Sniper x2, Finisher
- Rush Goalie (0-1-2-2): Hacker, Playmaker, Sniper, Finisher x2
- Park the Bus (1-3-0-1): Keeper, Hacker x2, Cruncher, Chancer
- Gung-Ho! (0-1-1-3): Baller, Playmaker, Sniper, Finisher, Sharp-Shooter
- Shoot on Sight (1-0-2-2): Keeper, Chancer, Sniper, Sharp-Shooter, Finisher
Ladbrokes 5-A-Side Positions
- Keeper - To concede
- Hacker - To be carded
- Cruncher - Tackles
- Baller - Passes
- Playmaker - Assists
- Chancer - Shots outside the box
- Sniper - Shots
- Sharp-Shooter - Shots on target
- Finisher - Goals
The formation you choose should depend on what type of game you are expecting. If you think it might be a one-sided affair, you may opt for the Gung-Ho formation.
Alternatively, if you think it could be a feisty game with lots of hard tackles, Park the Bus might be a better option.
- Select your players
Once your formation is locked in, it's time to choose your footballers. You can view all of the players expected to take part in the match, or sort by team if you wish.
You can use the same player in multiple positions. For example, if you think one of your guys will score and pick up a yellow card, you can put him as your hacker and your finisher.
Stats are provided to help you pick your lineup.
- Choose your stats
After selecting a player, you then decide on the stat line you wish to set for them. So, for a sniper, if you select Ashley Barnes, it may automatically come up as 3+ shots and give you the odds for that. You can use the + and - signs to change how many shots you want to back him to have, and the odds will adjust accordingly.
For your first selection, the odds shown are for that stat alone. When you then add your second selection, the odds displayed are the combination of the first two picks you have added. When you have all five selections in, the odds will likely be rather high depending on the stat lines you have opted for.
- Place your bet
When you are happy with all of your picks, you can go ahead and place the wager. After clicking the green button, a graphic will appear that summarises your bet and allows you to enter your stake.
