Fanatics Fair Play
If you're a fan of betting on player props or fantasy football, you have probably felt the sting of losing a player early on in the game due to injury. It's one thing to lose your wagers because your athlete of choice doesn't cover, but losing via injury feels borderline unfair.
While just about every betting site will grade your wagers as a loss if your player was active anytime during the game, Fanatics Sportsbook has recently introduced 'Fair Play' - an initiative that will put an end to bad beats due to early game injuries!
What is Fanatics Fair Play?
Fanatics 'Fair Play' is a discretionary house rule policy that states that will void losing player prop bets if the player you bet on leaves due to injury early in the game - during the allotted time for each sport.
If your prop bet won despite your player being injured, Fanatics will settle it as a win - meaning you can't lose either way!
Available for across many of the top leagues and sports in the US, such as NFL, NBA/WNBA, NHL, MLB, tennis and golf, Fanatics Fair Play are not limited to straight wagers only, but also apply to parlays and Same Game Parlays.
This article breaks down how Fanatics Fair Play initiative works, and why it is such a big hit with bettors. We'll cover what types of bets you can use, what the Fair Play rules are for each sport, when your bets get paid, and more.
We'll also show some real examples of Fanatics Fair Play where this policy saved the day for thousands of Fanatics bettors.
What types of bets qualify for Fanatics Fair Play?
Fanatics Fair Play rules will void or pay out Match Player Props selections placed in:
- Straight wagers
- Parlays
- Same Game Parlays (SGPs)
While for straight wagers you will see the funds returned into your account once it is confirmed the injured player did not return into the match, when it comes to parlays or SGPs it will be only the leg of the parlay that concerns the injury that will be voided or marked as a winner.
If there rest of the selections in your parlay or SGP go on to win, your parlay will pay out!
What sports is Fanatics Fair Play available on?
Fanatics Fair Play rules apply to most of the major sports and leagues that they carry.
Below you can see when Fair Play comes into effect in each sport/league that it is offered.
How does Fanatics Fair Play work?
In the following section, we'll break down how the Fanatics Fair Play initiative works step by step, so you know what to expect if a player you bet leaves the match due to injury. We will be using an NFL game as an example, however, you will find that it works very similarly for every sport.
Create an account with Fanatics Sportsbook and fund it using any of their various convenient deposit methods.
If any of the players that you bet on leave the field due to injury within the allotted time - the 1st quarter in NFL in this case - your wager will enter the radar of the Fair Play dedicated trading team.
This team monitors player injuries, and whether they return to the game later on, or if they are out for good.

Here at MyBettingSites we always recommend reading the fine print of every betting promotion, and while the Fanatics Fair Play is more of a feature than a promo, it's definitely worth it to know exactly what the Fanatics injury rules are - and if your bet qualifies for Fair Play.
- Fanatics Sportsbook Injury Rules NFL
In NFL events exclusively, Fanatics Sportsbook reserves the right to consider any selections made on Match Player Props void for the benefit of the patron if the selected player is active for the game but leaves the game with injury during the 1st Quarter, without returning to the field of play.
Such voids will be entirely at the discretion of Fanatics Sportsbook and are not required under any circumstance unless otherwise noted in our House Rules. Any selections that have already been unequivocally determined will be settled as such - for example, a player to score a touchdown and they have already achieved this.
- Fanatics Sportsbook Injury Rules NBA
For any player related market, player(s) must enter the court and receive at least 1 second of playing time for bets to have action. If a player is listed as “inactive” or “did not play” for the relevant game, bets on that player/market will be void.
The exception to the above rule is in NBA/WNBA Regular Season, NBA/WNBA Playoffs & NBA In-Season Tournament exclusively, where Fanatics Sportsbook will reserve the right to consider any selections made on Match Player Props void for the benefit of the patron if the selected player is active for the game but leaves the game during the 1st Quarter, without returning to the game.
Such voids will be entirely at the discretion of Fanatics Sportsbook and are not required under any circumstance unless otherwise noted in our House Rules. Any selections that have already been unequivocally determined will be settled as such - for example, a player to make a 3 pointer and they have already achieved this.
- Fanatics Sportsbook Injury Rules MLB
For in-play player related markets, pitchers must throw at least one pitch after the time of bet placement for bets to have action. Hitters must record at least one plate appearance after the time of bet placement for bets to have action.
The above action rules dictate whether or not a player prop selection will be active. The exception(s) to this rule is in the MLB Regular Season, MLB Playoffs, and MLB World Series exclusively, where Fanatics Betting & Gaming will consider any selections made on Player Props void in the following scenarios:
- A pitcher starts the game and throws at least one pitch, then leaves the game with an injury before recording three outs.
- A batter starts the game and records at least one plate appearance, then leaves the game for any reason before the start of their second plate appearance.
Any selections that have already been unequivocally determined will be settled as such. For example, a player to hit a home run and they have already achieved this. Wagers placed on the under option will be settled as winners in the case of a player having less than a specified total of any Match Player Prop before leaving the field. In this same example, selections on the over option will be settled as a void.
- Fanatics Sportsbook Injury Rules NHL
For any player related market, player(s) must enter the ice and receive at least 1 second of playing time for bets to have action. If a player is listed as “inactive” or “did not play” for the relevant game, bets on that player/market will be void.
The exception to the above rule is in NHL Regular Season, Play-Offs and Stanley Cup Final events exclusively, where Fanatics Sportsbook will consider any selections made on Match Player Props void if the selected player is active for the game but leaves the game with injury during the 1st Period, without returning to the game.
Any selections that have already been unequivocally determined will be settled as such – for example, a player to score a goal and they have already achieved this. Wagers placed on the under option will be settled as winners in the case of a player having less than a specified total of any Match Player Prop before leaving the field in the 1st Period. In this same example, selections on the over option will be settled as void.
- Fanatics Sportsbook Injury Rules Tennis
In the event of a retirement or disqualification at any point after the match has started, the player/team that is awarded the victory/progresses to the next round will be settled as the Winner in the Match Result/Moneyline market. Selections placed on the retiring or disqualified player/team will be voided.
All other markets will be voided unless the market has already been determined. Any markets that have already been determined will settle as such.
