Introducing bet365 Prop Protect
If you bet NFL props long enough, you’ve seen it dozens of times: a few plays in, one awkward step, and your player’s done. Most books treat that as “tough luck” if the guy took the field at all.
bet365 has recently decided to take a different line, with their new Prop Protect rule kicking in when your player is ruled out before halftime and won’t be back.
Instead of eating the loss, straight bets are refunded as Bonus Bets, and parlay/SGP legs are voided and recalculated so the rest of your ticket can still hit.
What is bet365 Prop Protect?
Prop Protect is an automatic policy for pre-game NFL player props. When an injury rules your player out before halftime (and it’s officially confirmed he won’t return), bet365 steps in:
- Straight bets get your stake back in Bonus Bets.
- Parlays/SGPs remove the injured leg and re-price the ticket based on what’s left, paying it out if the rest of it hits in Bonus Bets.
If your outcome had already settled before the injury (say an Under cleared), the bet stands and pays out normally in cash.
Is bet365 Prop Protect really that big a gamechanger?
Short answer: yes. Without it, any prop tied to an injured player who logged a snap was dead on arrival. With Prop Protect, those early-game fluke injuries no longer decide everything - especially helpful for bettors who live in the NFL player-prop markets.
Is it perfect? No - refunds come as Bonus Bets, not cash. But for NFL prop bettors, having a built-in escape hatch beats watching an injury nuke your stake for nothing.
Of course, we would have loved to see bet365 return the money as a cash credit, like Fanatics or DraftKings Early Exit programs do, but bonus bets are still a big win for prop bettors over simply losing their money.
What sports is bet365 Prop Protect available on?
Right now, Prop Protect at bet365 is NFL-only. If you’ve got action on a football player prop and your guy gets ruled out before halftime without coming back, bet365 will have your back.
Step outside of football, though, and that safety net disappears. NBA assists, MLB strikeouts, NHL shots - all still count as losses if your player gets hurt early.
If you are interested in having this kind of coverage on other sports, bet365 is not the right place for it. Instead, you’ll need to look at books like Fanatics or DraftKings.
What types of bets qualify for bet365 Prop Protect?
Prop Protect applies to NFL player props placed pre-game. That means it’s active across:
Straight wagers – single-player props like rushing yards, receptions, or touchdowns.
Parlays – where your prop is one of several legs across multiple games.
Same Game Parlays (SGP/SGP+) – building a combo within one matchup that includes player props.
It’s worth noting that Prop Protect doesn’t change the outcome if the bet was already decided before the injury.
For example, if you backed a CeeDee Lamb to go over 4.5 receptions and he already had five catches before getting hurt, the bet settles as a normal win. On the flip side, if he hadn’t yet cleared the line and went down before halftime, that’s when Prop Protect kicks in.
How does bet365 Prop Protect work?
In the section below, we’ll walk you through bet365’s Prop Protect rules step-by-step so you’ll know precisely what happens to your bet if an injury knocks your player out early.
Register for an account with bet365 and deposit funds using one of their supported deposit methods.
Head to the NFL section, pick your matchup, and dive into the player props menu. Whether it’s rushing yards, receptions, or an anytime touchdown, lock in your line and confirm your stake.
Eligible bets include straights, parlays, SGPs, and SGP+
Live props don’t qualify . Prop Protect applies strictly to pre-game bets
If the player you backed is ruled out before halftime and it’s officially confirmed he won’t return, Prop Protect is activated.
Your ticket will still be graded normally at settlement first - so you might see it listed as a loss in your bet history - but the bonus bet refund/recalculation will hit afterwards.
- If your player never returns and your prop is sunk, bet365 will issue a Bonus Bet refund equal to your stake, usually within 24 hours.
If your prop had already cashed (like an Under that hit before the injury), it still pays as a normal win.
For parlays/SGPs, the affected leg is voided and the ticket is recalculated. If your other legs win, you’re paid out at adjusted odds, with returns issued in Bonus Bet

At MyBettingSites, we’re always chasing angles - and that means digging into how each sportsbook builds its promos and house rules.
While bet365’s Prop Protect isn’t exactly a promotion, it is a big advantage for bettors to have - especially those that routinely bet on NFL player props.
If you’re betting on rushing yards, receptions, or touchdowns, it pays to know how bet365 handles those wagers when injuries force players out - both under their standard football rules and under Prop Protect.
- bet365 NFL Injury Rules
General rules:
- Player props are void if the player does not participate at all (parlays are recalculated with remaining legs).
If the player takes part in a match and is later injured, bets generally stand and settle per market terms (Prop Protect is the exception for qualifying NFL props).
Postponements/abandonments: if the game isn’t completed within the stated window, most markets are void unless already unconditionally determined.
Football Prop Protect rules:
- Refund applies if your player is ruled out due to injury before halftime and will not return (regular season or playoffs).
Only pre-game NFL player props are eligible: Live bets, futures, pre-season, look-ahead/hypothetical markets are excluded.
Cashed Out bets do not qualify.
If the outcome was already decided before the injury (e.g., an Under that cashed), the original result stands.
Straight bets: stake is refunded as Bonus Bets.
Parlays/SGPs: injured leg is no action, ticket is recalculated, any returns are paid in Bonus Bets.
Bonus Bets expiry: 7 days from credit

In the games below, the players who went down before halftime would have burned tickets at most other sportsbooks.
At bet365, though, qualifying props were covered - turning what would’ve been straight losses into bonus bet refunds or re-priced bets.

bet365 Prop Protect FAQ
bet365 Prop Protect is an house policy that refunds or recalculates NFL player prop bets if the player you bet on is ruled out before halftime and does not return.
While most other betting sites in the U.S. would still grade the wager as a loss if the player took the field, bet365 takes a more fair approach: singles are refunded in Bonus Bets, or if it’s part of a parlay/SGP, that leg is voided and the rest of your ticket continues - paying out in Bonus Bets if it wins.
Straight bets are refunded as Bonus Bets equal to your stake. If the injured leg is part of a parlay/SGP, that leg is voided, the parlay is re-priced, and you’re paid out if the rest of the legs win - again in Bonus Bets.
