MyBettingSites Nigeria's World Cup Jackpot Has a Winner - Meet Mira

When Mira stumbled across a link on Twitter, she almost scrolled past it. She doesn't bet. She wasn't even watching the World Cup, she was deep in her exams. But something made her stop. The link was from someone she trusted, TobyWrites, and that was enough for her to give it a shot.
That one decision just made her ₦1,000,000 richer.
About Mira
Mira is a student and a self-described Madridista, but she's quick to clarify that she's not your typical football fan. When the MyBettingSites Nigeria World Cup Weekly Jackpot appeared on her timeline, her interest wasn't in football. It was in the fact that it was free to enter.
I don't normally do that, she admitted during her winner's interview, "but it's just from someone I trust. So when I still saw the link on his page, I was like, let me just give it a shot.
She submitted her seven predictions, closed the tab, and went back to her books.
The Pick She Almost Changed
What makes Mira's story even more remarkable is how little certainty she had going in. She was in the middle of her exams when she entered, with barely enough time to research the teams properly.
There was one match in particular that kept her up, South Africa versus South Korea. She wasn't sure which team she had picked, and spent time going back and forth in her head, hoping she had gotten it right.
That's what made it amazing, actually," she said, "because I didn't mean to, I didn't know what I was placing my predictions on.
She had gotten all seven correct.
When the results came in, Mira found out she was a winner in the most understated way possible, she simply saw her name.
It was kind of funny when I saw my name, and then amazing as well, she recalled. Asked how she felt in that moment, her answer was simple: I could not sleep on Friday.
She was also the last person to submit her entry before the form closed for the day.
Beyond the Money
For Mira, winning the jackpot meant more than the prize itself. She spoke candidly about what it feels like to benefit from football as a woman, in a space where people often doubt that women can have a genuine interest in the sport.
People used to think of females and football; when I put my interest in football, people used to judge, she said. So I'm benefiting from this thing that you used to criticise. Thank you so much, and I'll just keep going.
She also had a message for anyone still on the fence about entering:
I'm proud to be a millionaire. I have told like, three people already to go and do it.
One of the most touching parts of Mira's story is how it began, with trust. She saw the jackpot link on Toby Writes' page, someone she follows on social media, and decided that was reason enough to try.
"I was even afraid it might not be a genuine site," she admitted, "but then when I saw it was from someone I trust on social media, I was like, okay, maybe let me just see. People were actually laughing, but I've never met him, and I still trust him. So seriously, thank you so much."
She's already planning to send Toby a thank-you message, because without him, she says, none of this would have happened.
